So I recently got a old 1986 clod and the steering servo is week. Already had to replace the main chassis, links, motors, and soon the steering linkages. The servo is next on the list. Upgraded to the 2.4ghz radio setup.

What I'm looking for is a servo that wont kill me cost wise but is at least strong enough to the move the tires at a stand still and return to a neutral centered position while still allowing me to have rear steer? Currently it dog tracks something fierce and no amount of adjustment makes it better. Thanks for any input.

The tires by design won't really move when it's sitting still - it's designed to turn while moving.

I recommend mounting the servo on the axle which could be done on both. If that's a bit pricey there are several servo options.
