Fan Connection For Hobbyking X-Car 45A Brushed ESC?

I've just bought a Hobbyking X-Car 45A Brushed ESC and, if necessary, I would like to attached a 4x4cm fan to the heatsink.
Could someone tell me where is the best place to attach the wires; battery in, BEC out etc?

Well, it somewhat depends on the input voltage of the fan..

What is the fan voltage?

Most of those little fans come with a BEC plug which will happily plug straight into most receivers (supplying 5-6V).

At least that's how all of mine are wired-up, with the exception of the Speed Passion ESC where the fan unit is integral to the ESC circuitry.

The fans I use will take 6 to 8.4 volts.

I like using the battery in on the ESC as I can turn the speedy off but the fan still runs to cool things down while I am marshaling the next race if I leave the battery connected.

You can also use a spare socket on your receiver quite happily if you have one. Especially if your fan needs 6v. This will obviously shut down with the ESC though.

All six of my hobbyking esc's have now burnt up and died, now bought a few hobbywing quicrun wp1060 esc's they have great reviews so sticking with them or mtroniks in future.

Toi update this, I've had no reason to add a fan as the ESC barely warms up. It seems a decent buy.

I've fixed mine to the input from the battery, never had any issues.

Oh sorry, it's a Schumacher KF with an Orion R10.
