DT-02 Brushed Motor.

Recommended Posts

Hi all a bit of help needed. Will a dt-02 chassis that is fully ball raced, fitted with uj's and the standard differential gearing cope with a 15 turn brushed motor. I have a dt-03 that is fitted with a 20 turn brushed motor and it copes fine. The only reason I ask is that currently hpi 15 turn motors are cheaper than their 20 turn counterpart.

Cheers Steve.

You can drill out the motor mounting holes by 1/2 mm or so and fit a pinion with one less tooth if the 15t motor should prove to hot for the gearing...

If you can't gear the car appropriately to the motor, either cutting out the enclosing gearbox or using the Tamiya DT-02 heat sink set helps to allow better cooling.

The hottest motor suitable for a DT02 chassis brushed is a 19 turn spec. That's the fastest brushed motor allowed in the DT02 challenge.

Or 10.5 brushless.

Anymore than that the chassis just isn't capable.
