Thanks mate, although all I did was look at other peoples designs and went from there.

It has good articulation now, way better than stock which is not hard lol.

So I'm in the middle of fitting servos on to the axles and I was wondering if I need to use proper servo savers or can I use these that came with the kit?

Thoughts?

It can be hard to find a servo saver strong enough for a clod. It's been an ongoing subject for a long time. But almost nobody recommends not using one. G Made used to have a beautiful one that looked like a steering damper. It was on my list until I couldn't find them anymore.

So would something like the Tamiya High Torque 51000 do the job?

Steve, I used 2 Kimbrough Servo Savers on my clodbuster above, Midsize w/ Hole 23,24,25 Spline Drive KIM201.

There very strong and have not broken in any off my cars.

It took me a while to get them, he is in America. 6 Week wait as he makes them to order.

Rc crawler.net. Search for him. There is a post about them.

That's some amazing fab work..very impressive!

Tell me about it, I've spent the last couple of hours having a gander at that forum and It seems he builds a lot of custom stuff for the people on there, some of it is very technical indeed!

I've been in touch with him already and am getting a pair of servo cages sorted for my Clod. Can't wait for them now!

Thanks again James!

No problem dude. I'm surprised he replied straight away as he was very hit n miss on replying to emails.

I ordered 4 from him and payed up front and did not here from him for 4 weeks!

Started to panic. But he did reply and they came no problem.

They are very nice and strong!

Yeah he's responding to messages quickly although I am conversing via PM on the RCC forum so maybe that's why.

$75 for the pair shipped to the UK seems a very good price for low volume hand made stuff, just hope I don't get hit by customs!

I am near completion with my "modded clod". Remaining parts should be here this week, pics will be posted very soon.

I started with a single servo set up, but ditched that idea rather quickly, not liking the steering performance of 4 monster sized wheels to one servo. Also, like Jesse, I'm going the 4 link route. The slight stretch gives it better performance, and looks much better.

So far shocks, motors, lift kit, steering rods, body posts, wheels/tires and sealed bb's are in. Waiting on some new hardware for the 4 link, and a servo and axle mounts. Also going to mod the steering knuckles to get more steering angle out of it.

Also, the no-name eBay esc became useless shortly after it's first use :| So a proper one will arrive shortly.

I stripped a servos internal gears using a direct servo arm like this on my axle-mounted-servo-equipped-Clod - with not really any abuse either...

How have a modified standard servo saver - but will probably just use a mid-size Kimbrough eventually...

I did say this in a previous post. It's the best way to do it and it saves the servo gears.
