I got buyers remorse after ordering from rcmart but changed my mind yesterday and bought one from rcjazz. Hopefully I’ll know soon if the get stock on the 31st or whether it will be March 🙁

Can’t answer the 2nd, but for whatever reason, Tamiya decided that the Super Champ, which was originally sold as the Fighting Buggy in Japan when it first came out, should have that name internationally when they re-re’d it. Here in the UK, retailers are expecting these to be available at the end of April, once the ships get here.

Rough Rider had similar issue and was called Buggy Champ.

Tamiya USA is having delays in receiving shipments. The port in Long Beach is understaffed and backed up in checking Containers.

Hopefully we will have our stock soon in US

I got mine a couple weeks ago, got tired of waiting for it to come to the US and ordered from rcmart. Surprisingly it showed up four days later, sadly I haven’t had the time to build it yet

It’s sitting in a container in Long Beach CA. They’re understaffed, backed up. I’m we’re living in the dark ages again

Finally had some time to build it. Need to get a receiver, servo, and paint, but at least it’s not a box of parts anymore. Not sure how I’m going to paint it but won’t be box art

What battery are you planning on using for it? Will a standard modern 7.2V Nimh fit in it? I have a hump-pack 7.2V I use for my original Sand Rover, and this battery was the type the original Super Champ was designed to take, but the modern upper deck doesn't look like the cut-out is big enough for a 7.2V hump pack.

Most likely I’ll use whatever lipo I have that I can make fit. 7.2 nimh seem to be fine but the original hump packs don’t seem to fit

That’s a shame, but good to know.

Hmm, that looks like it might be a tight fit for my 5000mah Nihm, they are a bit longer than normal. Might need to go down to my 3600mah pack. I have a small lipo that is 1300mah that would fit in the LF1100 mounts that come with the kit, it would give me authentic 1980s run times.

I got this one before its original re-release back in 2015 it was probably the first built fighting buggy in the UK I got it (at the time from a very good friend who shipped it over from Japan ......oh those were the days😍) way before its release in the UK! I've had 3 since then! Just be careful with the body I've had toilet paper stronger than this body!

Great job. I think the RC channel front bumper looks great on the FB. I’ll be doing the same when my kit arrives 👍

Any excuse to post some pics of my favourite RC car will do. It's looking a bit less shiny than it was 4 years ago. Trips to the beach will do that I guess.

Hopefully it will whet a few appetites for the upcoming re-release.

@Fuijo Do you remember where you got the alloy wheels from, as they look great! Maybe RC Channel, Pargustore, or someplace else..?

Mine is on its way from Stella.  Who is the best source for original decal sheet these days?  I know MCI has it.. anyone else?

@futureworksThey were from RC4WD. They're 3-piece beadlock, the same design as the kit wheels with the exception that the screws have to go from back to front.

They stopped selling them ages ago. I don't know why.

The body is really that bad?!?  Whereabouts are they so weak?

On the roof bars where it joins the body the metal roof add a bit of strength but it tends to snap were it goes around the metal roll bar! I think its overall quite a heavy buggy and when it goes over (which the SRB'S tend to want to do) it's a heavy chassis for the body to support........that's just my opinion and experience with the super champ/fighting buggy? fantastic buggy though👍

Wow, it’s a wonder you don’t see any cabriolet version’s.

So it’s best not to roll these things then 😉
