Well I am wanting to put a little faster motor in the scorcher.
My ? is I have the stock one in now and the 15 tooth pinion and was thinking maybe going with a Tamiya sport tuned black motor will it get much faster? and the important thing will the motor run hot with the 15 tooth pinion gearing?

I usually use the duratrax 20 turn motors but I think it may be to much for this model.

yes sports tune is faster.......

I just stuck a 17t in my brat ....when I nail it it's hard to keep it in a straight line....I read on here somewhere where they stuck one of those photon 2 motors in there and it worked great for $11.00 usd ......is that the 20t your talking about?

Yea I always recommend the duratrax 20 turn motors I run them in most of my brushed tamiyas it was probably me who told the person to try one...but I think it will be to much for this model and I also run 2s lipo in my scorcher.

The problem you run into is whether the diameter of the motor will fit in the hole and the orientation of where the pin lines up and where the wires exit the can so that you can use the motor cover. On my runner I removed the inner pin and drilled one hole to secure the motor in with a screw. I also had to remove the label on the epic 17 turn to get it to fit. The motor is powerful and will throw a sand rooster tail very far.

Shodog Don't want it that powerful just want everything to fit like in stock form but be a bit faster...I have brushless super fast stuff for when I feel the need for speed. :)

Well I put a duratrax photon speed 2 twenty turn motor in it BUT I needed to bend the motor tabs and put the timing in the ZERO position to make this motor fit properly.

I tested it out on the street with only a 7.2V NIMH pack and WOW she's mush faster now!! I think with the 2S lipo I am going to be ripping it up!! LOL!!!

I run the 20 tooth pinion gearing in mine with a shorty lipo & silver can. It's plenty fast enough for boondall & the beach, plus it gets mega run time & doesn't get hot :)

Never thought of that ... that might just be a good thing for a bit more speed.

I will have to give this a whirl but I think I will like it! :o:)

I've been running the tamiya black can, about 19turns give or take! with a 16amp fett style speedo, gives me about 15+ mins with a nice turn of speed, also with out having to worry about modifercations to gearboxs etc.

I also only run five cell NMh 3300 cells. Home made hump style packs, from larger stick packs, they work serprisingly well and not too heavy.
