I can't be the only one who does this...

So I have an Acto Power pink 2wd buggy motor but nothing to put it in.

The sensible thing would be to sell it in its lightly-used state.

However instead I find myself looking for a Grasshopper.

So what projects have you started pursuing from the most minimal of parts?

Most of my start-from-a-single-part projects have been inspired by bodyshells - I prefer them to have chassis under them.

However I do have rather a nice alloy steering assembly for a TT02B, which means that one of these days I will have to get a TT02B to put it in...

Haha this is so typical, I often have half a chassis worth of spares and end up buying wrecks only to end up with more spares until I have three or four of the same car that I didn't really want

I've built more than one car to use a specific set of wheels and tires. Bodies sometimes too, especially if I bought a body with a project in mind and then find out it won't work.

I found a metal shopping cart that was intended to be a flower pot holder or something. It was about 1/4 scale. I used pan car parts to make it rc. Like a go cart almost. Silly but quite entertaining

I also have a King Blackfoot body which I wanted to turn into a scale crawler but fell flat on my face looking for narrow-enough axles. The only suitable product was the Losi Micro crawler axles and they're long discontinued / expensive.

I also have a set of Wild Willy II wheels but no vehicle to attach them to...

This thread is kind of reassuring, it's nice to know I'm not the only one!

Building cars to use a 'spare' body, wheels or motor - yup, done that. Or buying so many hop-ups that you end up with 'almost' a complete second car, so then buying more bits to complete the second one and not waste the spares (and inevitably buy more of the same hop-ups and repeat the cycle!).

I bought one of Toykid's resin Moto Willy figures a while ago but he still needs a ride. A stock M38 or WW2 is just so, well, stock. He needs a nice custom ride, I'm just not sure what yet. So I'll be building a complete car just to use the figure.

Guilt of that too, built up an entire SSG-carbon chassis'd F103GT, there were so few original Tamiya parts that I only had to spend around £15 to have a complete new chassis using the original kit parts!!

Sadly that SSG chassis is now sold to someone in the Netherlands. It sure was pretty.

I do this all the time - bought a Brat re-re to make a beetle-bodied Frog. Bought a basket-case Monster Beetle to use the body on the Brat. Bought a well-abused King Blackfoot to restore, bought an NIB body for it, then put the lexan Brat body on it instead. Bought a CC01 and put the hard Brat body on it. Bought a TLT for the axles to put under the new KBF body. Put the beat up old KBF body on a TL01. Bought Wild Willy 2 wheels for the TL01 F150 and turned it into a Mad Max truck. Gave up with the TLT conversion and put the F150 body on a Losi MRC. Bought a Robbe Jeep on a TA01 and put the body on the Losi MRC. Put the F150 body on the CC01. Put the Brat body on the TA01.

Currently I have a shelf full of shells, a shelf full of chassis and 3 boxes of wheels and still no idea how to join them all together to make a bunch of runners...

I'm putting an NIB King Blackfoot body on a CC01 - it's a good fit, with some customisation. Lots of people on scale4x4rc have done F150 CC01s - the F150 was sold with IFS front and solid rear axle so it's a good scale match too, especially with 1.55 wheels.

I have a Losi MRC that I'm putting under a Robbe Jeep shell.

I had a CC01 Blackfoot but wanted to add an interior and realised I couldn't without the body being really high up - which looked naff.

However since selling the CC01 I have seen another steering servo relocation mod which probably would have assisted in getting the body to the right height. Typically that chassis is gone, but if another rolling CC01 chassis comes up at a good price I could be easily persuaded!

Where did you source your Losi from out of interest? Only place I've seen them is second-hand on eBay for ~ £100 or more.
