Hello all..I know this topic has been brought up before about social media, and who uses it and what not. I myself, go on Facebook from time to time. I've joined a few of the RC groups on there to share pictures of my cars, but Tamiya people are the minority, especially in the states. It tires me reading about "how fast my Traxxas went", and so on and so on. It boggled my mind earlier today when someone posted that he was selling an original 3 speed Hilux with radio for $400. I commented that he could easily get more if he used the right outlet to sell it. He didn't seem to care. He wasn't interested in anything Tamiya.

So, I started my own public community on Facebook called Tamiya RC Enthuaiasts. If any of the TC members do use Facebook, and would like to share their pics, please do join the group. Post your pics, videos, whatever you want. As long as it is Tamiya related.

I was just tired of seeing anything but Tamiya, and not being appreciated by the other RC communities. Especially since Tamiya was one of the forefathers of this hobby.

(Sorry for the rant)

I hate Facebook, I started using it last fall to keep in touch with others in the rc community around me and stopped using it in the spring. I'm back on facebook now but its out necessity. I found it hard to filter out all the BS. I will look up your group when I get home and join but I have to agree that Tamiya gets no love from what I see except here at Tamiyaclub. I find many people only use facebook and not forums but i'm the opposite, I see facebook as RTR RC's(instant "look at me") and forums like builders kits(you make it what you want).

I'm MuskokaRC on facebook if anyone is interested. All rc and no BS.;)

As a younger member, I use Facebook semi-regularly. I shall check out this group ;)

Edit: Done, and shared the obligatory Lancia Rally photo to help start things off...

I just realized I created it as a page and not as a group. I will be deleting it and starting a new one where people can join. Sorry for the confusion.

Never used facebook and will stay that way. I don't to share with a friend of a friend of a friend which i don't know. Some social media allows one to believe having their 15 minutes of fame every day. Ever wonder how some crimes get solve so quickly? Sure CCTVs are everywhere help a lot but the apps that turn your smart phone into a flash light/torch also tracks your location, so planning to do some crime, leave your phone at home. :D

Is just my thoughts and may not have a grain of truth to it.

So are you the proud owner of a hilux? :-)

I use Facebook all the time, friends in the forces, keep in touch with family (knowone lives close to anyone, not even in the same country!)etc. You need to keep on top of security settings etc,but it can be a pain. It's worrying the amount of info a smart phone can transmit via apps,007 would be proud!!

Unfortunately, no. I was really thinking about grabbing it, but I have another project planned soon.

I updated Tamiya RC Enthusiasts to a group, so now people can join and share their pics.

As for security, don't do the crime if you're not prepared to do the time! :D

Yup no facebook for me, that's how ex girlfriends find you, had it happen before on a lesser social media network. It's a shame more clubs are doing the facebook thing as opposed to a forum, but its hardly difficult to post a page on an already established website than to code and run and maintain a forum.

Ha! Yes, that has happened to me before. I'm not the biggest social media user, especially Facebook. I just really wanted to give Tamiya a larger presence over there.

I'm perfectly content with this community and all of it's outstanding members :)

Social medias are great but just becareful what you put down or upload. The exposure could help or could come back and bite you depending who got hold of your info and for what purpose. it has given joe average a voice to disclose any injustice but it cuts both ways. Face book is still trying to get me to use it, but so far i have deleted all the invites.

There are thousands and thousands of happy RC'ers engaging with each other on Facebook. It's an excellent platform and there are lots of fantastic groups catering for all sorts of RC interests. The platform of choice these days now that so many people use smart phones.

I will check out Tamiya RC Enthusiasts :P And join of course ! I do use facebook but unlike one of my friends I am not a social media addict. It can be used for good and bad purposes. I only normally use facebook maybe 10 - 15 mins a day to keep in touch with old school friends who have moved interstate as its a useful tool for that kind of thing.
