Every now & again you come across a handy tool for r/c.
This one I saw the other day while I was looking on the H/K site when placing a order and was cheap enough to give it I go I thought. Up to now I have got past all these years or many years with a pair of long nose pliers and a rubber band as my Dean connector jig BUT this blows everthing away yet so simple.
It holds wires for you when you are tinning them in solder, Holdes male & female Deans connectors as well as 5.5 mm Bullets for bigger packs like 4S & 6S packs. Made out of Carbon fiber and has a strong sliding spring plates to grip them.
I just did these 2 new 4200 batteries and was a breeze. Care still needs to taken but so much easier.

Genius!

I'm so tired of rubber bands and pliars.

Isn't is a bit light though? I'd like something with a heavy base to hold things in place.

Since it is carbon fibre, it is probably a very good idea to seal the edges of the holes with CA so that you don't get sparks when soldering battery connectors. CF does conduct electricity.

I think I'll get two and mount them on something heavy. Then I can use them for joining two wires as well.

It looks OK but for me I prefer using 'helping hands' which allow both the wire and the connector to be held firmly at the same time leaving your own hands free to hold the iron and the solder. Plus they act as a heatsink also.

I have one similar to that from HK. The problem I have is as yonez said it's too light so I found myself putting it inside a vice! Mine is grp as opposed to carbon fibre.

For 10bucks though it's great

What I do is pay a bloke round the corner to solder stuff for me! My soldering iron isn't up to the task, so instead of paying out for a new one I bung this bloke some beer tokens to do it for me...

I second the 'helping hands' , Was soldering with one last night as it happens . I also use it for holding drivers heads after spraying / painting them (long bolt into the neck- as it were)

Do you have to be drunk to solder things? So that's where I'm going wrong.

I have the 'Helping hands' screwed to old kitchen chopping board and the soldering iron holder in corner

I usually use the nearest things to hand, such as pepper pots, pens, apples, etc. Inevitably this leads to burnt stuff and swearing.

Think I might invest in some 'helping hands'... B)

BTW - I've tried my 10 year old daughter's "helping hands" - she freaked out and ran away when I told her to keep away from the soldering iron tip because it would burn her and the smell would be disgusting...
