Nikko Dictator conversion.

Recommended Posts

Got involved in a new project, converting a 1986 Nikko Dictator to Hobby grade.

The car is in pristine condition and it have close to zero wear.

I removed all plastic bushings from the front, rear axles and the wheel carriers.

Replaced the original Johnson/Mabushi 380 motors with two Traxxas Titan 18T 380 motors, installed a high torque servo with a Traxxas servo saver while still using the stock steering rods.

Rewired the car with 12 gauge cables and used only Deans connectors, the ESC is a lipo ready 8T ESC.

Installed a FlySky radio system.

Will replace the wheels and tires with Tamiya Boomerang ones which I got off eBay.

Also ordered 100mm and 65mm oil shocks which I should be receiving today, will update the folder with pictures for this.

Below is a link with pics of the whole process documentation in pictures :)

Very very nice model!

This is the red one! The only model, with the Hurricane, that was sold in two color choice.

I was crazy for the white version when I was young and for the red version of Bison F10 Frame Buggy but I could never effort the price of them...

Also loved a lot the red Hurricane, the black Super Fox and the white Venus Aero Tuned.

I did own the red Turbo Panther.

I got a second Dictator, modded it and I am quite happy with the outcome.

This is the white Dictator I always wanted as a kid...

Nice example.

I believe these springs are too stiff.

They look stiff but are very soft, as a matter of fact I replaced the springs on the front ones with Tamiya Blitz springs that are super soft.

BTW - The car now reaches 28 mph which is not that bad :)

I like it a lot and shame on me but have not enough money to buy also these Nikko.

I really like the red Mad Bison F10 Frame buggy and the White Dictator but I already said it...

I should use narrow Hot Shot wheels on this car instead the large ones to keep the original look of the car.
