So while I'm waiting for some part for my other projects I just as well decided to start another project with my TA-02 chassis.

The building of the chassis is going to be pretty much the same as I did in my Top Force'ish runner project. I haven't done to much yet, but stay tuned

The rear gearbox was not usable so decided to use some of my new parts. I do have black gear boxes but I want them to be red on this build.

More to come!

He he, no it's not wide.. I just thought so since you mention it as a TA02. Will change it to TA01.

This just shows that I'm a buggy man :P

Almost finished the chassis today. I decided not to do any big mods on this one, so then I mounted all the parts I got.

Wanted the build to see fresh, so I used my spare front gearbox parts.

I think that I found out that the chassis must be some kind of hybrid. Because it seems like I don't have the ta02w rear suspension arms, so I must try to get hold of them.

Love the low rider Monster Beetle, that has to be done by someone at some point!

Also loving this project, am following it with great interest!

1st question: where did you find there red uniballs please?

2nd question: why don't you anodize the dampers? You need a better polish job and then a good anodizer. You could also choose the dampers color...

I agree with you, hmm i Do have a spare body and decals... And if i use magnetic body mounts i don't have to make extra holes in the body..

I got them on ebay, just search for tamiya red adjusters and you might be lucky and find some.

Can i anodize them myself? How Do you Do that?

This is good solution but it is expensive for only four dampers.

If you search for some anodizer in your town I believe he can do the job for you but you need to polish better the dampers.

So I have started the work on the body. I guess some of you have seen from the build logo, I'm going for the Sierra Cosworth body, since this is one of my all time favorites 1:1 cars.

difficult to see but I used smoke paint on the middle air intake on the bumper

First test on the chassis

20141021_195327_zpspnmd6x2b.jpg

I got some new wheels, these are from a Toyota Celica. The wheels are 2 pieces so i can get the offset I need to make the body and chassis look ok toghether

So i bought this body with Hydro Texaco decals from a eBay seller, but the decals are ****, home printed. I also notice that the body between the wheel arches are bent a bit to much outward, this I will have to fix.

I had to improvise on how to mount the rear wing. I kind a managed to cut the wing mounts wrong, because they were a bad fit to the wing. still I think it turned out ok.

20141023_135105_zpskafjuny8.jpg

Here you can clearly see the bad quality of the decals.

20141023_115836_zpsjrabcuv2.jpg

I'm waiting for the body mounts I have ordered, interior and some other parts. In the meantime I will work on the decals cutting away most of the clear vinyl that is not needed in a hope that it would turn out better. I will also trim the rear wheel arches a bit to make the body fit the chassis a bit better. I might have to get some side mirrors and maybe an intercooler, window wipers and exhaust tip to make the car look more scale.

here is a picture of my cosworth replica i used to have

Very cool, but (with all due respect) that bodyshell mould is awful :(

For a moment I thought you had sourced one of those Kyosho bodies - now they're very sought-after!

Yeah I must agree, the body is not made of the best mould. But it was this one or one other that are being sold on the bay, but that one was even less true to the original. I would love to get hold of the kyosho one, but as you say they are not easy to get hold of.

Can't criticise your skills, but that shell is nasty. The Kyosho one isn't perfect but it's massively more realistic. They do crop up for sale now and again. Here's mine (bought it new in 1992) on a ZX-Sport chassis :

Niiiiiice, that one looks very nice... But is it 1/10 scale or 1/8 scale?

Maybe I should just make a Escort Hydro Texaco body insted of the Sierra... hmmm

I will keep my eyes open for one... made a search on ebay now that I follow...

Cool, then you could if you want to transform it into a race car :)

StrokerBoy, could I ask you to take measurments how wide the body is from wheel arches and how long is it from top of wheel arches?

Thanks in advance
