Hi all-

I'm running a Pumpkin with a hobbywing quicrun ESC with a HPI 15T thunderbolt with the standard pinion and spacer. I have grabbed a motor mount that would let me use a standard length pinion. Is there a pinion that would perform better (more speed) with my current setup? Thanks!

Bigger the pinion faster the car but keep in mind, bigger the pinion hotter the motor and the esc.

With a bigger pinion you will lose acceleration and torque. Your car will move slower and will need more time to gain the highest speed.

Now you have a 10 teeth pinion gear, I would not move more to 11 teeth or 12 teeth at maximum.

I agree 100% with what kontemax says.

On the Lunchbox, there are two pinion options: 10T with mount plate, 18T without the plate (Hornet configuration).

I would stick with the 10T pinion to retain the wheely function, even more with a low turn (high RPM) brushed motor.
