I like the rules. It'd be hard to be more specific without getting draconian. Since this is a very friendly site, I'm sure we'll all be fine.

For those who are considering dropping out, please reconsider. Just a simple Google search for "movie cars" can bring up images of things you never thought of.

Charger from Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry, semi from Big Trouble in Little China, load of choices from all the Cannonball Run movies and clones. Cheech's Impala from Up in Smoke. Jeff Spicoli's VW van from Fast Times: just paint a Tamiya wheelie bus red and yellow and put a smoke machine inside.

Anyone know of a good 1/10 DeLorean bodyshell? Or a 1959 Cadillac Miller-Meteor, preferably in hard plastic?

No particular reason :D

No reason my butt

If you wanted to get creative, the flat-sided shape of a DeLorean is probably one of the best to scratch build from plasticard. Quite an ambitious project though, if you've never done a scratch build.

Some of the stuff on the scale4x4rc.org forums can give you an idea of what's achievable in a scratch build body, although I must admit it's more than I wanted to do this time.

So I was all sorted with what I'm doing for "on screen" and then my random brain just threw something a little bit left field into the mix! Might have to do a quick concept test to see if it's worth pursuing.

Well, a DVD arrived in the post today that might give me some good ideas... Got two backup plans just in case!

Hey, are static models alright for this, or RCs only?

i think we're sticking to RC that can move and drive under its own power . No reason why you can't convert a static kit though ;)

in that case... I need a Super Hornet gearbox
I think a Hornet, Grasshopper, Grasshopper 2 or Lunchbox gearbox would be alright too.

All gears needed with it, so please write me a message if you have one you don't need :)

Apologies for a little bit of off topic.

It's time to watch some movies

I need to remove myself from the list of contestants. I'm sure I'll build the vehicle one day anyway. Just not now. I want to focus on my Clod bodied Trail Stomper instead.

No worries emory, there's no official list so it's doesn't matter - all the best with your Clod-bod build. I've got a new Super Clod body on my top shelf that's been waiting for a 2.2 TLT scaler build for the last 5 years :D

Count me very much in, Neil at Time Tunnel Models is helping me sort out a lot of parts for my build later this week.

Now just to get the parts delivered without being noticed by SWMBO...

Since I'm out, I'll let the cat out of the bag. This is what I was going to (and will eventually) build. The Roadkill Muscle TruckPosted Image

OK so last night I sat down and watched a DVD I'd bought specially to see if my idea would work. OK, so I guess I cheated by looking at what shells I had lying around, then went on IMCDB to see what films those cars appeared in, then tracked down what I thought might be a good film with a good iconic car.

I'll probably go with my choice, because I've got most of the bits and can probably fabricate the rest, plus the fact that I was always going to build this car pretty much like this anyway - I just have to focus a bit more on the shell styling to get it to match. But... Depending on how my bank balance looks after November, there's still another choice that I'd love to do...

Oh balls! Oddballs in fact! I just realised the Heng Long RC Sherman is the same model as Oddballs tank from Kelly's Heros. Not only that but the mantlet I bought to convert mine into a Firefly is the one it had in the film, before I started modifying it. Man I coulda been eating cheese and drinking wine by now :D
