image.jpegBump for BMX, my 92 GT interceptor, bit of a mix of parts but I'm happy with it. Also got a unstamped 1980 Aussie MX11 Redline that needs a full resto.

I would love this bike but I do not think my wife will share my enthusiasm 😀I had a black aero burner back in the day and then went onto a GT Pro performer with white skyways.

I had no idea that Raleigh actually won a World Championship with the Burner. I always assumed that within the BMX scene back then Raleigh had a similar standing in the field as Tamiya did in RC, ie lots of fun but not really competitive.

hehehehe remember the old times when some American organiser just starts up a new race & simply calls it "World Championship"?? Even though most of the OUTSIDE world don't get to hear of it until after it's over?

At least by 1985, WC run for 3rd time, now about dozen foreign countries joining in.. there's like a heap of different classes... so who's the World Champ?

Craig Schofield the only Raleigh rider amongst the mugshots that I spy.

Like most things my bmx was a secound hand silver fox which I sold for £20 to a mate .... I regret that! However I am now the proud owner of a 35th anniversary Raleigh chrome pro burner which like all my Tamiya cars will stay in the box for the time being.

now I'm looking at others, I really can't afford all this 80s retro goodness.

Well, I sold off my Skyway and Haro, was enjoying building them, but time and $$$ caused a rethink on continuing down that path. I really needed to “trim” down my hobbies as none were getting the attention they deserved (sounds like kids )

I genuinely don't know exactly how much old bmx stuff I've got! :D

I'll keep it short & sweet with my 1980 Mongoose.

Surprised that nobody has bumped this thread in recent months as I just stumbled on the fact that Raleigh have re-popped the Super Tuff Burner... https://www.raleigh.co.uk/stbur19-super-tuff-burner ...but didn't they bring this one back in 2007 too?

I know that they re-released the Aero Burner a little while ago. Was that a success?

Anyway, the reason I ask is that I am tempted by this Super Tuff re-release. If nothing else, it's a beautiful looking thing. Most of all though, probably the one and only thing that I never had as a kid when it was popular was a BMX. Not that I couldn't have had one, but I just prefered the marauding beastliness of the Raleigh Bomber back then. So this might be an itch that I finally get to scratch. Unfortunately though I missed the "pre-sale" so when they go on general sale on October 23rd it might be really difficult to get one.

To all of our resident BMX experts on here...does the spec of this Super Tuff look good for the price?

Depends what you mean by "value"... sure it sounds "cheap" compared to paying crazy resale prices for original mint old stock. But if you consider its all repop and IMHO pretty overpriced (vs a modern BMX)... well I wouldn't call it "investment" :P

Everybody's in the repop game now, go into bike store see all these shiny retro Kuwahara ETs, brand new PK Rippers etc... meh. Looks nice sure. Got no soul methink.

Although gotta admit im kinda eyeing those super sized ones :) 26" sweet.

To be fair, I am not intested in it for the performance....just the nostalgia. And as long as it is "reasonably" good value for money then that will do.

Those 30th Anniversary Kuwahara E.Ts seem to go for crazy money.

Well, there's a reason why I avoid as much as possible to go down to our basement, just look at this. Sadder than a George Jones song!

My beloved 1984 bikes Kuwahara Survivor 2.5 and Mongoose Expert...

https://i.imgur.com/LGWdzB2.jpg

(I have the original Elina seat for the Kuwie, this one worked better for me to ride)

I need new tires for them. Three years ago when I went to get some air for the tires the front one exploded right on to my face. My ear kept ringing for about three days.

Y'all stay safe and have a good Sunday, the BEST day of the week. Or it used to be...

I had a Night Burner as a kid, loved that bike but man it was heavy.. Black and red colour theme, my dad did an ‘upgrade’ by adding three gears.

The wheels I should of had 😉

Some more love for the good ‘ol Burner here to.
I still remember my Dad showing me a line of BMX’s at Halfords asking what I liked. I pointed to a red ‘California’ to which he then said “I thought as much” then showed me the tag on it with my name on! 😁. Anyway being made of some dodgy Spanish metal saw the thing undergoing warranty repairs more than being ridden so we paid an extra 30quid to upgraded to a Raleigh Burner. Many a happy day was spent for years on that thing at the local skate park and woods. I got through a few sets of wheels and folks. I also knocked a front tooth out when a new stem snapped that was put on to replace the bent one in the picture!! It must have been a fault with those as friends also snapped a couple of days after fitting, he didn’t loose any teeth though 😂. Happy days.

I think there were some file size limitations or something, so I edited and added some replies.
