I share your pain!

I have had far too many builds turn out too perfect to run, despite best intentions.

And then to add insult to injury, I normally sell the wannabe runners at a huge loss and about a month or two later regret selling it.

As an example, my avatar is my 959 which I built form new. I visualised blasting it across beaches, only to wimp out of running it and then struggled to justify the cash value sitting on a shelf so I sold it at a huge loss. Now I really really want one.

I despair at myself I really do.

I run all my cars... although saying that I haven't taken my TT02 Intetgrale out of the garden since I built it new earlier this year, that's because I haven't sorted the interior and I want that to protect the paint from stone chips... honest :) Actually I'm probably going to wait for some dry ground to take that for a proper run... so maybe next year then :D

I'm guilty of this, but get around the issue by having a nice one and a basher.

It's the same with the motorcycles I build, it does wear off after a while though and they eventually get ridden :)

Errmmmm

I have 6 cars built that I have never run,

5 that have been powered up and tested indoors, but not run outside.

My latest build, I couldn't wait to run it.

It was muddy an hour after I finished building it :)

So I think you are Normal in not wanting to run your new built car

All of my cars are runners.

...By which I mean that all of them have moved at least a foot under their own power, not necessarily outdoors. ;)

Seriously though, I fully understand the reluctance to run a new build, specially if it is rare, expensive and/or of sentimental value. And if your cars are on display when not in use, it makes it even more inviting to leave them pristine.

For the cars I run regularly, I have two bodyshells, one for display and one for running. Helps to dull the pain a bit!

As other members have mentionned, I get a runner and a shelfer of the same model. Shelfer gets the best parts when rebuilt and always ends up stock, the runner will get ESC and a lower turn motor and occasionnally some other mods.

I find that the plastic bodied cars/trucks hurt the most when they rollover, I'll never forget what happened to my Monster Beetle....

All I'm saying is you guys must have some very bored wives/girlfriends if all you wanna do is stare at things and not play with them ;)

Yeah my original rough Beetle runner instantly became a parts car when I rolled it as the body mounting posts did not even have the rear cross member brace found in some models :(
