I am continuing my obsession with adding lights to my cars. Once my wheeler was completed, I could not stop myself. I have moved on to my Blackfoot (technically a super blackfoot shell on a Brat).

I started with the front end. I designed lenses and light buckets for it.

Now for the rear. This was an interesting design. The LED's are embedded inside the housing so that you don't get wires hanging out the rear. This made the units a bit thicker than stock but they look better to me as they were thicker on the real truck.

Straight out of the 3d printer with the insides painted.

Dude you've just made my day and it's only 6:30am! How soon before we can purchase these in your Shapeways store?

I have this waiting:

.... How soon before we can purchase these in your Shapeways store? .....

This! Will these work with a Blackfoot III body? I'm not up to speed on my different flavours of Blackfeet.

Glad you all like them.

Zomboided - The tailgate and grille on the BF3 have the same geometry so they will go right in.

As for the rest of you....um, every time I say you can get something of mine on shapeways, TC pulls my thread. So thanks to this site, I cannot say they are for sale. If a mod says I can give you a link to these CUSTOM, non-copyright encroaching parts, I will gladly post the link.

Anyway, here are the light assembled. Notice the 3mm LED's inside the housing, one for reverse (or turn, however you want to use it) and one for stop/driving.

Three holes are drilled in the body (1.5mm each) for the screw and led legs:

This way there are no wires outside the body.

Here is a size comparison:

And here they are illuminated!

with a turn signal on (this truck doesn't have reverse)

Pinto, make a thread (in the sales section) and call it Pinto's 3D artworks. Then post a link so we can find our way to all your Goodie's. ;)

Ill try guys. I just want to upset anyone on here. There is one mod I am doing to the tail lamp bucket but other than that they are set for production as a CUSTOM, NON-FACTORY REPLACEMENT THAT TAMIYA HAS IN NO WAY ATTEMPTED. This is my intelectual proporty, no one elses.

I will post some more images of the working side marker shortly.

I really haven't figured out what has to be the reason you are not able to share these via Shapeways, but I guess that is why I am not a mod. You have guts cutting up the grille, but I agree it wasn't as hard as it will be for the REAL DEAL Blackfoot grille as the Super has been given to us again with the BF3 re re. I have a BF grille all ready for this treatment, it was shaved ENTIRELY behind the grille and the light buckets to give the look of a real grille should I ever get the time and guts to proceed with the project. I will be looking to add these to my trucks and even though I say it now, maybe even my Ranger, will depend on how crazy I get. :D

All the work is great looking and there is so much close up detail that I can count the specks of dust on all the work area. Keep it up and as long as we know your name on Shapeways, we should be covered.

**** you Crash. We cant all buff out the work bench when building a car, some of us actually build stuff! AHAHAHAH! :D

Anyway, here are the side markers:

Here is how tight the fit is between the gap of the tailgate and the rear fender.

Oh, btw i heard a rumor that you can search for these on shapeways, huh SteveU30? Interesting.

Nice work! I wouldn't dare to that to my Blackfoot; it has the original eggcrate grille and "FORD"-lettered tailgate.

Oh, I know what you mean. I guess its a good think I am going to take care of some of that too...but not the grille, that would in fact be a copyright issue with Tamiya and I would never put TC in such a situation. I will make a "Ford" emblem that will snap into the later style grilles.

Better watch out FORD might come calling on you. :P

That's ok. I own 7 of them and I am an Admin on Ford Pinto.com where where Ford has allowed us rights to use many of their logos. Imagine that.

Very nice modification :) It should result in some realistic pseudo 1:1 scale photos too with the right foreground and background.

Yeah my photos are rubbish. The only time I have to take pictures is after work when I get home so by that time its dark. At least my point gets across...i hope.

Well, since the Blackfoot shell is done, I have moved on to the King Blackfoot / Blackfoot Extreme shell. This one, I have to say, was easy. Since the tail light lens is actually a part of the tailgate, all it took to sever it was a light score along the lamp and tailgate and it comes right off. I made a bucket that will fit three LED's: two 5mm and one 3mm. The 3mm is designed for reverse but i suppose it can be used for anything. I set the others up as driving and as I have a Novak Duster 2 speedo in there with reverse light circuitry, I used the other 5mm slot for the brake light.

Here is the bucket glued in:

Here is the brake light on:

Brake and driving lamp on:

15727853811_824b787fbd_b.jpg

Here is the bucket installed from the inside of the shell. I test fit this on both of my KBF shells and they both needed very minor mods in different areas so this was a good all around shape.

This is the lens right out of the printer:

Now they are painted. This is a slightly pinker red as I didn't want the lens to blend with the red shell I have on this guy. I really should have sanded the lens a bit before I painted it but I was in a rush to get to the Midnight Pumpkin.

15544386608_c98053aa85_b.jpg

Reverse light in (i was using an amber LED until my white ones arrive):

15727906111_6d8ac04d0b_b.jpg

All three on at once (sorry the colors are screwed there, red LED's make no white light)

Test drive time!

15719412245_f2a9e3a1d0_b.jpg

Thus completes the KBF project. You know where to get 'em.

Oh, one more thing, you haven't seen the end of the KBF or Extreme shell...it will be back... -_-
