I just go with what presses my buttons at the time, started with only vintage tamiya 4wd, hotshot, then supershot, terra schocher and then had to have an egress, 2wd didn't really interest me until I bought a Dyna Storm, that spawned madcaps and an astute, got the WW 2 bug from reading threads on TC, then I had to have a vintage Boomerang and a TA-02 rally lol

It has to pass 2 tests...

1) do I like it?

2) do I have the money / budget?

And finding out what will be release or re release also helps in deciding if the current model will be going home with me.

I have no plan whatsoever either - it usually follows the "I like the look of that and its been X weeks since I bought anything" and that justifies it in my head :)

Case in point last night, I already have 2 Lunchboxes and Midnight Pumpkin and an NIB Pumpkin but that didn't stop me buying a "previously enjoyed" Lunchbox in a dubious colour scheme along with a rolling Pumpkin chassis just because they were local-ish to me and the price was reasonable. I have no idea what I will do with them but I know I will take great pleasure in stripping them down, cleaning them up and doing "something" with them. Maybe I will sell them on, who knows, I just tend to look out for things I will enjoy spending time doing in the man-cave without costing me too much money (he says lol)
