Hi,

I'm currently building my first Tamiya RC car....it's a Fighting Buggy and I'm having a blast assembling it. I've got almost everything done, but am now having trouble attaching the tires to the rear wheel rims. The instructions say the just "push in" the rim into the tire, but the tire cant stretch much and the rim just won't go in.

Do you have any particular techniques for attaching the tires to the rear rims of the Tamiya buggies?

Thanks in advance!

Best tip is to just muscle them onto the wheels. The tires are a bit smaller than the wheel so it will be quite stiff. It helps if you turn the wheel about 90 degrees to the opening of the tire in order to get it started and then just force it through. Your fingers will probably hurt by the time you get the back tires done.

That's how it is with brand new tires. Anyway, here's what I always do and works for me:

Using a sharp knife I cut down the plastic tips off of the borders of the inner wheel and then it becomes easier to fit the tire around it. You have to slide the wheel 90º into the tire and that's it.

These are the tips I am talking about:

Good luck with that buggy! :)

My way of doing this is, as others said, pushing in the wheel 90 degrees into the tire, then turn it upright. I did not cut the ridges away, but only molding flash. This did work well with my Hornet, which shares wheels and tires with the Super Champ/Fighting Buggy.

I tried preparing the tires in hot water, this did not work for me.
