My First Restoration - Super Champ

Recommended Posts

Wanted to share a pic of my first Tamiya restoration. This was given to me by the son of my mom's friend around 20 years ago. When I received it the car was missing the body, rims, tires and some front suspension pieces. The car sat in it's original box in my closet until I discovered eBay back in 2001. Up until eBay came along I never thought I'd be able to find the missing pieces. Now several years (and several dollars) later it's been restored to it's former glory, without using any re-re pieces. I even managed to get the original mechanical ESC working. After the restoration it left my possession for a while (stupidly traded it away), but it is now back with me. :)

Why can I not see an oil slick at the back?

That's a Std feature of a super champ isn't it?

:D

Oh and nice work - it's certainly an effort to scour the world for original parts. Dedication required!

What radio gear is it using?

Thanks for the compliments guys. The only electronics in it right now are the throttle servo, mechanical ESC and motor.
