That is the maximum height the lower arms will take with those shocks so to be adjustable in the true sense I would need to flip them, I like the look better this way up. The added bonus is that the shocks almost bottom at the same time the steering arms run out of clearance so they are less likely to take a hard hit than when the shocks still had travel to spare. Need to whip them off and clean them up a bit, the cutting is a bit rough so they need a sand and polish.

Just seen this build, nice idea on the top mounts.

The only thing I would change is servo mounts for gpm mounts, and fit a metal geared servo. We're running £30 savox water proof metal geared in my kids trucks. It's the only weakness I've really found. We have broken countless acoms as17 servos, it's a pain to get to it and you'll end up loosing the little black spacer when the screw falls out, which it will, the kit screw isn't very good. If you fit an uprated servo, fit the servo screw that comes with it.

If you end up going brushless, I'd recommend packing the rear diff out with a thick grease, I used an HPI heavy duty green grease. I was having drive problems, a lot later on after quite a bit of bashing, where the car was spinning up but not moving, after checking all sorts it turned out to be in the diff, even though there was no sign of any wear or damage in that component. Mine's running a 9T equiv so wouldn't expect any issues like that for quite a while anyway.

Enjoy!

I will look at the servo when I have run it a bit, they were free with cheap radio gear so are just for testing really. I have metal mounting posts on order but I am looking at moving the servo to minimise toe in on compression.

I have been reading old threads and there are suggestions a ball diff will go in the gear box. If that is the case I will give that a try, I run in a lot of long grass and both wheels driving is a must

I have just recently bought a ball diff for mine! but was advised against this as it makes it harder to control at speed and some other reason I now can't remember. I bought that at the time of using the grease, but quite happy with the heavy duty grease unless I get another failure, then I'll need to re look at it.

I polished the rear "height adjusters" tonight so I will have to have the fronts off now so the match. No pictures I am afraid. I did notice that the model is not 100% reversible, the front fake gearbox leans back slightly and the rear is straight up, only noticed with the longer shock towers that they mount very slightly differently.

That is true. The suspension geometry of the WT01 is superior to that of the WR01 in that respect. The WT01 has a bit of a kick-up at the front, which is lacking on the fully-symmetrical WR01.

That is one of the reasons I have my WT01 set up for speedy driving, and my WR01 set up for clambering over things at a slower pace where suspension geometry isn't such an issue.

Quick Update. Thanks to XV Pilot for the tip

M03 Quick Release Battery Holder

SAM_1973_zpsnsbynsvf.jpg

First impressions not great, very rough edges

SAM_1974_zpsnintelte.jpg

Sandpaper and super glue later and I am more happy

What I am taking off

Not a bad fit

SAM_1979_zpsfudf11fs.jpg

Looks like the length will be great

SAM_1980_zpssjsq2mwb.jpg

Other end, fixed plate. Need to make some spacers

SAM_1982_zpskrtcjb9s.jpg

These are far to long but they will do for now. Ends cut off 4mm bullet connectors

Just as I was finish tidying up I noticed this needs to be on the other side. Hook facing forward could end badly

All in all this is a great mod for fitting LiPo to this chassis

I have been running my Wild Dagger body on this so I had no need to paint the BRAT one.

As a runner I decide to put in the least effort possible so I am not afraid to run (and roll) it at ever opportunity

First coat, looking a little pink. Rosa thinks this is for her now. I gave this a badword of a good wash but there was still areas the paint would not stick, I had to wash in alcohol and do a second coat

SAM_2190_zpsvnqfriz6.jpg

A few coats later and a 50 mile round trip to get a tin of black for backing

SAM_2205_zpsnpaqdffq.jpg

Windows off and looking good

SAM_2206_zpslyhcxn6n.jpg

Couple of places the pearl has not taken to well

SAM_2208_zpsk66rmktj.jpg

Just need to decide how far to sticker it now

Is that Pactra pearl grape? Similar at least, I had similar issues with the paint on my TA03 drift rx7 shell, looks blotchy up close.

Looks cool though and is more than good enough for a runner.

Faskolor Fasescent Candy Red. It is not very red!!!!

I am going to try multi colour on my DT-03, this "red" over a pearl white

Sticker time

Going low effort, high bashability so not going with a full set

SAM_2314_zpsgkzq865b.jpg

First time to tighten up the diff a bit

Tamiya but plenty of grease in as stock

SAM_2315_zpsjmbjf56t.jpg

All clean

Chain wax as lube

Love the fitting holes options

Looking sweet and fast :-)

Quick run around the garden and I think this one will spend a lot of time on its roof

Yours is now a very similar spec to mine! I also run a Trackstar 10.5 sensored motor, albeit with silver finish not red (not sure if there is a difference other than cosmetic)

It will go like the clappers :)

It will wheelie from a standstill and I actually found opening the diff up to stock spec made it a lot more driveable with the high grip the tyres generate. I've got some VG diff grease on the way that I might try next, but I definitely wouldn't recommend locking it if anyone is reading this and thinking about it!

I'll have to get my own thread up for my Mud Blaster.

Once the diff putty had softened a bit it was a bit easier to drive. First two fast starts it just flipped over backwards.

Thinking of getting some car wheel weights now to stick on the underneath of the battery holder to compensate for the light weight Lipo, I think this needs the COG lowering for me to run it.

I used a jumbo futaba servo at the front to keep the front end down with my brushless setup. Helped massively.

Ps, I also just used heavy duty grease in my diff, considered locking but grease has held up, I needed to use HD grease as the diff was slipping after a while on brushless.

This is my favourite basher bar none, awesomely underated bit of kit when modified.
