I am looking around for next years projects and thought I might get a CC-01 for some light playing on the rocks in my front garden.

My question is are they all the same bar the bodies? I do not want to buy a Landfreeder and then find the Unimog would have been cheaper after adding included hop-ups.

Any advice?

The general rule of thumb with the CC-01 is that the chassis is the same regardless of the kit (with maybe the minor odd exception), the price is usually dictated by how nice the body is.

The best value for money is the Land Freeder (due to it being one of the lesser bodies), although a lot of people buy it and paint it in the Fall Guy colours and apply the Fall Guy decals available from ScreenPrintDigital on eBay.

Hope this helps

Well that sold it to me. I loved that program :-)

The different bodies have 3 different wheel bases (I think) which is achieved with different mounting points for the rear suspension links. From memory I think the hard body Pajero is the shortest, then you get the Land Cruiser/Unimogs and I think the longest is the Toureg racer. The shorter the wheelbase makes for a more manoeuvrable crawler with a tighter turning circle.

AFAIK all versions come with oil dampers but also have plastic bushes and soft pinions.

There is a new CC01 release on the way so if you can it might be worth waiting to see if that takes your fancy?

I am looking at Banzia hobbys so older or unpopular are cheaper :-)

Lunchboxes are so cheap it seems mad not to get one and if I add a few more kits it shares out the postage costs.

I think you'll find that the more kits you add on Banzai's site, the shipping charges increase also thus negating the saving. You also increase the risk of customs charges as HMRC will be very interested in a large box stuffed full of Tamiya goodness.

For cheaper kits priced around the £100 mark I would use Fusion Hobbies, if you use the TC discount codes it makes it almost as cheap as buying from the Far East after shipping & (potential) customs.

Thanks I will have a look

Yep, I've used Banzai twice now for a full sized kit and a few spares. Got stung for customs both times so make sure their price works out very well because you could be paying another 25% on top!

RC Mart and Jason's Stores usually get through untouched :)

They use a postage that shows it up to customs but even with customs and postage the prices are cheap. Maybe not cheap enough for the hassle though.

I currently have a 58324 VW Touareg with the CC01 chassis for sale.

Let me know if interested.

Thanks but of all the bodies that would be the bottom of my list so it would have to be stupidly cheap.

Thanks for mentioning it :-)

The cheapest would be using a salad or take out food lid over the cc chasis. :D you may not like it in the end.

At first i was going to suggest any poly body, but is for light running so hard plastic is find. Pick any body within your budget.

Didn't someone already suggest the Landfreeder?

Land freezer is my top pick just ahead of the takeaway carton. Looks like postage from Japan pushes the kit prices up to almost UK cost so I might have to temper my enthusiasm for a while. I do want a Fall Guy replica though, I think I would bend it replicating the opening titles.

No point buying it if you don't at least try that jump ;)
