Hi guy's, just wondering if these tires are a worthwhile upgrade over stock tires for the Lunchbox, Wild Willy 2, Pumpkin, etc.?

Anyone tried them?

Thanks,

Steve

Are these just the normal ones on the likes of a Farm King or Blackfoot III ?

I have the Farm King and the tyres seam okay... for general bashing etc. They are for sure a softer compound then other standard Tamiya Tyres I have. I'd stay away from compact and hard surfaces with them as you will wear the studding of very quick. They are great on short grass.

These are different, the spikes are between the ribs on the tire. Cant say much to the compount.

Best improvement on the Willy/Lunchbox wheels is using foam inserts.

I ordered a few from Banzai for my Lunchbox and Madbull. I run inserts in both but thought these might be worth a try. Should arrive anytime now hopefully so I'll see if they make any difference and let you know.

The newish 54603 WR-02 Monster Spike Tire (Soft) are the same as the 43009 QD Monster Spiked Tires released in 1989, although the compound is possibly different.

These QD tires were still available in the late nineties, so when the Wild Willy 2 was released, they were a popular alternative choice. They offer higher traction on medium soft surfaces. They are also quite a bit more noisy on hard surfaces! ;-) (especially without inserts).

Some very old pics when my first WW2 was nearing completion:

The tyres are also used on the WT01/WR01 chassis, that is Dual hunters, twin detonator, wild dagger, blackfoot extreme, blackfoot 3, mud blaster 2 and bush devil 2 etc.

Great tyres for bashing on mud grass, dirt, but wear quickly on hard surfaces as already said.

I just got a WW2 WR02 for xmas, I'm really enjoying it, only got it finished this morning, well yesteray now!! Cracking little chassis.

Cheers

Nope they are not,the tires on the WT/WR01 chassis have the spikes on the ribs, but yes these wear off fast.

Size is different too

50374 dagger etc tires OD 130mm / Width ca.57mm

54603 Willy/LB tires OD 115mm / Width ca. 65mm

Here is a pic off the 'standard' spike tires.

Oops thanks. Sorry I was referring to the farm thing and the WR01, I didn't even clock the other tyres there. Will have to read more carefully!! But of course the LB/WW2 wheels are a different size to the other wheels anyway so don't know what I was thinking!

Thanks guys. Yes, these are not the spiked tires as found on the Dual Hunter, Blackfoot 3, etc. The "hop up" tires I'm referring to are the same size as the stock Lunchbox, Wild Willy 2, etc., tires.

I was curious if they were worth the added expense, as I can get a set of standard Lunchbox tires off ebay at a more affordable price.
