One more question lol the battery terminals on the traxxas evx2 will these work with normal nimh batteries and lipo batteries

But it won't affect the batteries or anything just the case of new connectors soldered on and yeah I will upgrade all connectors thanks

Not really the warrantie just want to know if I cut the connectors of and solder new ones on that everything will still work fine I really just wanted a esc that came out of the box that would run my 15t motors no messing about like soldering and getting y pieces and stuff only cause I don't know anything about it

its really nothing to worry about . Even for a total beginner soldering is't hard to learn - plenty of how to video's on you tube . you can certainly cut off the connectors and solder on the ones you need yourself . All that you require is a decent soldering iron - i would say one of around 80 watts for battery connectors , some flux and some solder .

I was watching some vids on YouTube looks relatively simple to solder maybe I should give it a go Wots the worst that can happen lol

I have a acme monster t nitro but I stripped the nitro engine out plus everything else I fitted a motor and battery etc I put my 540 silver can motor in it and it was very slow so I tried one of my 15t firebolt motors this was just as slow and it kept cutting out what motor could I put in this to get it working it is quite heavy and 4x 4 am running a probe wp etronix esc help please

The simple answer is - if you want speed go brushless :lol: . i know nothing of the acme monster t nitro so have no idea as to what brushless motor or gearing would suit it best but someone among the members will almost certainly . 2S or even 3s lipo power will have it shifting .

I tried both silver can and firebolt but slow as badword any resistance what so ever and it just stops might need to get a 550 motor and a 2s does anyone know if my esc will run a 2s and 550 it's a etronix probe wp

I even tried taking the front drive shaft out to make it rear drive still no power and battery heated up hmmmm helllllllllllllp

15 T limit on that one - and its 2s lipo able .

So how do I go about getting more power to this I just bought that esc but the motors I have and batteries are no use the battery dies in about 5 min and zero power

ok lets start from basics - what size pinion are you using on the motor - number of teeth ? Whats the teeth count on you spur gear ?

i would go up maybe a couple of teeth on the pinion - see if it makes a improvement . The 550 15T motors as used in a FTX carnage are quite powerful - might work ok . With the weight of the nitro engine and all the other stuff removed its odd that its so slow . You you sure that nothing is binding anywhere ?

Defo nothing binding I checked it is like walking pace and literally stops dead if any force is applied on it and that's it running in 2 wheel drive

I charged battery fully it's a 2000 mah nimh I have fitted my standard silver can back on I hooked it up it ran ok still not a great turn of speed battery lasted 5 min running it around in house and motor got quite hot

You do understand that the performance / speed with the 540 motor fitted is going to be a lot less than what you would get with the Nitro motor fitted don't you??

Like I said way back in post 7, the speed and performance with the 540 motor fitted is NOT going to be as good as it was with the Nitro motor..

But with that said, it does sound like you have got a problem though.. Can you please post up some photos of how you fitted the 540 motor?

Lets start with the basics..

Is there something binding in the chassis, could there be grass caught around the wheel axles, or a small stone caught in the drive shafts or gears? Does it roll free with the motor removed? If you push it on the ground or place it on a slight slope or hill, will it roll ?

You will need to look at your pinion mesh.. If it is too tight it will cause the gears to bind, and in turn cause the speed to be less and the motor to get really hot.. If the gears are meshed together correctly, then you should be ably to hold the pinion gear still with 1 hand, and be able to get a little bit of movement..

Here is one way to set your gear mesh.. Note how he wriggles the spur gear at the end in 4 places to ensure that there is some movement between the spur and pinion gears..

Yeah I new it wod be a lot less than nitro but defo something not right everything is free double checked the spur gear is in centre of car I drilled 2 holes in alloy plate everything sits on put a big jubilee clip trough the holes placed motet in clip and tightened it has gone solid the pinion is free against spur not to tight I think I had settings wrong on esc it was fast in forward and reverse ( well I say fast but it wasn't) and motor started to smoke so changed settings it's now fast in forward and slower in reverse if this makes sense and no smoke I think the motor is just not powerful enough with the etronix probe esc could I run a more powerful motor and a lipo I think it can take a 2s as said earlier I was looking at a hpi motor but it was 14.4 v which I think is to powerful for my esc maybe I shouldn't have bought that esc should have done my homework more I have 2 projects this one and clod think I bit of more than I can chew but you guys have been great
