Anyone know what these are for? I've got bag full of these sets and just want to check what they are before I put them in my parts listings

Hi Chris,

They look like the diff gears that are in the TL01, FF02, M03 cars.

Pretty sure that Tamiya actually used that diff gear in most cars & buggies[:)]

Yep, generic diff gears, and I get the feeling I might be ordering a set when I strip Matt's Mad Bull gearbox this afternoon [xx(]

Yep as said above - Planetary gears for a the stock diffs in alot of cars - Tlo1, Tao2, Tao3. Get a set of gears with a bigger dimention also for cars like the Blitzer beetle (i think).

Also have heaps of those!!!

id="quote">id="quote">Don't worry, it's safe. I've found that all the damage done was when he was smacked in the rear by a 60mph nitro nutter [:0]. I'm amazed that all that happened is a crack in the gear casing, and another pair of small cracks in the body, those Mad Bulls are built tough!

Chris, if you can find a genuine single colour printed cardboard box dating from the early 80's for those gears, they might be worth a bit more [;)]

Sorry, but I thought everyone who has ever built Tamiya cars in the past should know these diff gears, they are so common today ... that was it, what made me think you may play a joke or so ...

It was just an assumption

Never mind!

lol - no joke, found I had a big bag of them in my spares pile and wondered what they were...I've only ever built SRBs, Willies and clod based monster trucks. I have others but not taken them apart yet [;)]
