My wife's friend's husband recently gave this to me... What is it? He's been hauling it between various house moves for the past 15 years, and he got it from someone else before that. I can see the Traxxas logo on the front bumper, but other than that I don't know anything about it. Can it be restored? Is it worth restoring? I only got into RC about 4-5 years ago, so I'm not as familiar with older models and equipment. It's pretty to look at, but feels heavy and looks a little fragile. I'm guessing from the bottom of the chassis that it may have been run only a few times. Even the tops of the dampers and the tops of the stays are extremely clean.

It also came with a Traxxas 2-channel propotional 27 MHz AM radio, Pro-Tech timed charger, a pair of 7-cell NiCd batteries, and a Trinity Monster Horsepower brushed motor installed. It does have a mechanical speed control and a resistor bank, forward direction only.

Thoughts? Thanks!

Yep, Traxxas TRX-10 Bullet. Their first "serious" off-road buggy. Originally would have had a Lexan body with a plastic roll cage attached (similar to a Bigwig or a Kyosho Scorpion or Ultima) and came either as a kit or an RTR (before Traxxas foolishly abandoned kits). Mildly collectible, quite a good performer for its age, and not too hard to find parts for, except the body/roll cage. Would make a cool restoration project, or throw in some modern running gear, find a body to fit, and make it a vintage racer.

Ok, thanks for the identification -- this lets me do a little more research on it.

It didn't come with a body or roll cage; it was just a chassis and electronics. It looks like I can find some of the white plastic parts still. It might be fun to do a refresh on it, but not go too crazy with parts purchases. I'll have to think about what do with it.

Thanks again!
