Finally made a start on my Xv-01 pro kit today,

Step 1 diff assembly I have done away with the plastic bevel gears and fitted steel ones I also replaced the standard gear case orings with TRF ones. A small amount of green slime to help keep the oil in.

Step 2 fitting the gears into the front gearbox housing.

Step 3,4,5 fitting the gear cases together, motor plate and spur gear.

Step 6 fitting motor pinion and spur cover, I decide to fit a TZ motor not to sure how it will perform, fingers crossed it will be ok. I think I may need to lengthen the motor cables

Looks good, I'm still gathering parts/upgrades prior to building mine. I have the XV-01 long damper spec. Have fun building the car!

Great build. I thoroughly enjoyed mine. I highly recommend getting the aluminum arm/suspension mount pieces as those are the only bits that really have a tendency to break. Plus, they are blue so they will add to your bling factor.

Guys whats the wheelbase on these and can it be adjusted ? i have a body in mind but i need to confirm its size

I believe the wheel base is 257mm so plenty of body choices. The wheelbase is fixed.

Steps 27,28 and 29 servo and esc.

I'm using a blue bird metal gear servo I have a few of these and they work very well. The ESC is a hobbywing quicrun 1060 ebay bargain.

Step 30 receiver and esc covers, before doing this I needed to lengthen the motor cables.

This is great. I'm a big fan of the XV-01. What are the main differences between this Pro version and the standard XB-01? As I see it, it's the TRF shocks, Aluminium motor plate and turn buckles. Anything else?

Not to sure what's different apart from the blue ball studs, universal drive shafts, trf shocks and the blue turnbuckles oh and poss a tougher drive belt.

Made a start on the body today all a little bit alien removing the protective film before painting. After cutting and placing the stickers on the body I then began a 3 hour masking challenge.

Once the masking was done I then gave the shell 4 coats of PS-16 backed with 2 of silver. If I get time I will paint the pearl white tomorrow. And the start the massive task of fitting over 100 decals 😁😁

Looking good. When I painted mine, I traced the decals onto masking tape, cut the masking tape to shape, and then put that on top of the protective film to work out where I needed to mask.

I think it took me 10 days in total to paint and decal!

I love this chassis - it just screams quality . IMO one of the best designs Tamiya have come up with in years .

Well, no thanks to this thread, I picked up an xv01 pro. Nothing else yet, but I'm strongly considering the body you used as well. A toss up between that or a lancia shell.

This board is a terrible influence on me.

You did such a great job on this car cosworhtwesty. The XV-01 Pro was on my possible future cars list but it's now moved to the top 3 of my "next cars to get" list. I completely agree with volvotech, you guys are a bad influence (but in a good way). :)
