I know some people were interested in seeing what the 997 light buckets looked like so I took this rather terrible picture:

Very nice - here's an HPI

Can't find any tamiya C hubs, but theres a few alloy upgrades available out there GPM etc.. is that what you meam..?

ALL the non Tamiya ones are just copies of the stock Tamiya plastic part. Tamiya hop up alloy C hub 53226 is redesigned for less caster giving more front end grip when turning.

On a real car more caster is usually a good thing however the df01 front gear case which was used in ta01 & ta02 has 12 degrees of caster built into the lower suspension hinge pin mount. 53226 reduces the angle at the hub so the tyre has more contact patch on turns.

Positive caster increases negative camber when the wheels are turned.

i dont know if anyone has tried or its a crazy idea but could youy heat the stock c hubs and bend them to a desired castor angle? the tamiya c hubs to pop up from time to time but they're a bit pricey unless you get a 2nd hand set.

Heating and bending will not work. I'll post a pic of gpm, tamiya stock plastic and 53226 tonight when I get home from work.

Red. When I was little, I always told my gran I would buy a Porsche. And it would be a red one.

And I said "I'll take you for a ride in it, and if you want to go fast, we'll go fast, and if you want to go slow, we'll go slow."

(Yes I know neither of these pics show GT2s, but the shape is close enough to imagine what it would look like.)

So are all the aftermarket DF-01 alloy C hubs the standard geometry?

Yes, as I wrote in my post. Stupid aftermarket manufacturers copying the plastic parts not the Tamiya hop up!

Posted

So if Tamiya is actually going to release hop ups for the TA02 when would we actually see them? Would love to see CVD's and all the carbon and frp parts again. Some c hubs would be nice too.

Better start hunting, theres a set of c hubs for 55 bucks on the bay.

To be honest the ta02 doesnt need many hop ups to be fun ,bearings are a must as is the prop shaft,i have seen genuine ta02 shafts for 8 bucks other than that i would probs look at speed tuned gears and a aly motor mount ,bitd i never could afford one and i never really had too many issues unless i had a good stack.front cvds are on my list also ,i have used the gpm alu ones in a few cars and theyve been sweet

I believe that will be fine since the wheelbase is made shorter by inverting / flipping the suspension arms - someone else can probably confirm. Don't you need more than just the plates to convert though?

Anyone building this up as a street car may get confused (like me) when attaching the side mirrors. They are deliberately offset ie not in the same spot left to right, just like the real thing. This is so the driver's view wasn't obscured.

Thats how I thought they made it shorter... Can anyone tell me if there's more parts needed for using this chassis. Its nearly the same price as the whole kit so I don't want to get it wrong. :(
