Hi, I could really do with some help. I've almost finished my Mad Rat build. It has the standard motor with the kit. I have an Acoms Techniplus controller and steering servo. I am using a Modelsport sniper RV20 ESC.

The problems I'm having are:

Should the switches on the remote be on R or N?

Which way do I link the motor wires (one blue, one red) to the Esc (one blue, one yellow)?

I have linked the steering servo to ch1 on the receiver with the yellow wire on the inside towards the crystal. I assume this is correct?

The wires from the ESC to the CH2 section of the receiver (wires coloured brown, red & orange) with the orange inside towards the crystal. I assume this is supposed to be the yellow wire?

Pics below for info.

When I turn the controller on and the car the steering servo goes crazy and keeps twitching and moving.

I get nothing when I press forwards or backwards on the controller, except the steering servo moves more.

Is there a way to set up the ESC? What am I doing wrong? Please, please help!

The servo reverse switches are set according to the behaviour of your servo and ESC. There is no prescribed position - just set them so the steering and throttle controls work properly.

The motor and ESC wires are connected blue to blue, red to yellow.

You have connected the ESC and servo to the correct channels, but I am not sure if the plugs are the right way round. Any chance of a closeup photo of the receiver?

Hmm. All looks fine there. The plugs are both in the right way around. I think you may have a faulty transmitter or receiver then. I don't suppose you have a second set of radio gear for swap testing, or know any modellers who could lend you a set?

One thing it may be is the batteries in the remote are low. I'm going to get some more this week, and give it anther try.

If push comes to shove I do have some other radio gear, but t is a bit of a faff on to change it around. Why is it never blooming simple!

Thanks guys all sorted now. Steering servo was dodgy (now replaced) and the batteries in he handset have been changed sorting out the forwards and backwards movements. Hurrah!
