I went out to the local woods today for a play. My sister and family were up so I took a few cars and got my brother-in-law and nephew addicted.

They only issue is this:

Oh dear, that "By the back door" look.

:D

By the back door while they dry, they will be sleeping in the garage until they are clean

Bodyshells, wings, wheels, tyres and any other easily removable bits can be easily cleaned with soap and water.

As for the more intricate bits, I would wait until the mud dries, then remove it with a stiff brush.

Once the worst of it is off, the plastic can be made shiney again with a soap-free wetwipe or similar soft damp cloth.

Stiff brush was my first thought and the wipes are a great idea. Will see if I have any left from the kids, if not I bet I have loads of specialist car ones kicking about that I bought with good intentions but never used

??? You're supposed to clean them?

I have been doing this all wrong.

You are only suppose to clean it just before selling it, else buyer will see you have been neglecting and abusing it. And won't get the $800.00 BIN price. Is all about packaging and that is why we keep buying Tamiya.

Clean the bearings and moving parts, anyways! I think the Striker was originally advertised at 1 465 g; mine must be pushing 2 000 with the accumulated dirt...

I usually wipe dirt off with my shop rag, or paper towels given enough of them. A damp paper towel is used for bodywork. An overhaul is done where drastic cleaning is required!

Well, that works for about 4 months of the year ;)

Talk about our trade secret - my Avante's tires looked like new once the car thawed!

I would clean them as soon as you can because the mud will lock in the moisture allowing it to attack the screws and other ferrous parts. I'd use water soap and a paint brush to gently scrub the mud off. Go easy on scrubbing the mud off because it's essentially sand paper.

Personally I would remove the electronics, wheels, and for the 2wd's the motor and gearbox and then hit them with the garden hose and/or take them into the shower with me for a thorough clean.. Leave them out on the sun to dry the following day..

When dry I would use a cotton bud soaked in WD40 to dab on, or paint the metal parts such as screws, steering arms etc. to stop corrosion..

Looks like there is no stock cleaning method to these then. I will use a combination of the bone and see how it goes. Many thanks all
