Live chat / IRC

I was thinking, it would be great to be able to directly ask members questions etc. or even just have a banter, I would prefer IRC (there are many open IRC servers where Tamiyaclub could setup a channel) as I guess due to the lack of a webchat type thing already is a code issue?

would this be possible, or actually are other members interested in such a facility and would the powers that be condone/setup such a thing?

It's not something I use very often, but it was working a while ago.

Seems Java have taken exception to it though;

It's not working for me either, on Mac OS X (10.10.2) and the latest Java.
