Brush painted in the grill today with flat black Vallejo acrylic. Masked off the surrounding to keep it as tidy as possible.

Once dry I took off the paint from the raised grill surfaces with my finger nail and a wooden brush end that I've shaped into a chisel like flat end. Also filled in the orange indicator lenses.

I decided not to paint the main headlight surrounds black as described in the manual as I think that would look a bit odd.

Just the flatbed decal to get the outside finished. The interior is still to be decided :)

The Gas Monkey Garage decal arrived. Whipped the roll bar off to get it fitted.

That balances out the bonnet decal better.

Thanks guys. It's about as thick as the other repro decals but it's nicely printed. Just the interior to sort out and this will be done. Still needs a good run :)

Been tinkering with the Monster Beetle while waiting for parts on other projects. I thought I'd see how it would look with TL01 suspension arms.

I'm not sure about that. Too me the wheelbase could do with being a bit wider. I'll have to take the front bumper off and see how it handles.

Didn't like the narrow look so the full length arms are back on. I filled the rear diff with thick 500,000 weight silicone treacle to give it a slip diff effect for better beach running. Now I'm fixing up the Sand Scorcher body, I had drilled and fitted LEDs into the rear hard plastic light pods but I'd prefer to fit the clear lenses that came with the kit and mount the LEDs behind. So what's the best way to remove the hard plastic area without damaging the surround and leave an area to glue the clear lens too?

Done it! Drilled out most of the plastic with a hand drill & pin vice.

Cut away the rest with a craft knife.

Careful bit of Dremel work with a small sanding drum.

Job done!
