I'm kicking around the idea of holding a regional Tamiya meet in the southeastern part of the USA, preferably here in North Carolina. I thought I would put out a feeler to see if there are others interested in doing this as well.

About an hour west of me is the Blue Ridge Parkway -- there are plenty of locations to run trail rigs and have a BBQ. There are several camp sites; camping/grilling/trail driving could be fun. There's a lot of beautiful scenery up there. This would be a pretty laid back event.

Local to me in Winston Salem there is a hobby shop that has both an outdoor offroad track and an indoor onroad track. The offroad track is free to use except on the first weekend of each month (a race weekend). The indoor onroad track has a more frequent race schedule. I'm on friendly terms with the shop owner and might be able to reserve the tracks for a day or two to run some buggies and/or touring cars. No guarantees here, but it seems possible. I could talk with him if there is enough interest shown. I could also see if there is any interest from the local carolinasrcracers.com forum; I know a few locals who are into Tamiya as well. Local accommodations would include hotels and camp sites at Hanging Rock State Park; the hobby shop is located in the same plaza as a grocery store, so deli food, grilling out, and local fast food are options.

A few hours east of me are several beaches along the North Carolina coast; some of them are relatively quiet and have large stretches of sand for open driving. This is a great place for bashing around and doing some loose sand racing. From past experience I know Grasshoppers, Mad Bulls, and Lunch Boxes are all tons of fun on the sand.

From looking at the Tamiyaclub USA thread I know we're all fairly scattered, so for now it would be good to understand if there is any interest in a regional meet. If you're interested, tell me which of the three options above you like the most.

Timing might be tight -- if we don't do it this spring, then the weather gets nice again in the fall.

Just testing the waters here for now...

speedy, I'm down in Charlotte, and I'm totally up for a get together. Perhaps at a track where we can have some fun. I know there's more than a couple popping up as of late.

So we have 3 near Raleigh, 1 in Charlotte, and 1 in between... The weather has been very nice lately, but it will likely turn cold soon. Maybe we should target something in Raleigh next spring. Do you guys prefer off-road or on-road? State park, beach, or track? I can do a little more research, and proposals are welcome too.

I just might get to haul my buns over there, and I will bring some REAL TEXAS BBQ with me. :D I would need a few months notice, not a few weeks and the wife's spring break is March 14 through 18 so I thought her and I might do something together, but......I might find something for her to do while we meet up if y'alls wives come too.
