New Vintage Project...

Recommended Posts

after 7 years of stalling, I am finally getting around to restoring my original 58048 - Toyota 4x4. The gear box is covered in silicone but I need to get that removed. Any thought as to how to clean the silicone?

Petrol, or Gasoline for those in the USA will remove the silicone sealant..

You could also try other "mineral" products such as Kerosene, Turpentine, Methylated spirits, even WD40...

It would be nice if you could share some pics of he restoration process with us here in TC.

Crepe as in "crepe sole" works wonders on silicone sealant. It has enough friction to pull it off clean without any mark on the base material.

I know as I used to use it on silicone sealed antenna.
