Dephcon5 2 Posted March 25, 2015 after 7 years of stalling, I am finally getting around to restoring my original 58048 - Toyota 4x4. The gear box is covered in silicone but I need to get that removed. Any thought as to how to clean the silicone?
Backlash 481 Posted March 25, 2015 Petrol, or Gasoline for those in the USA will remove the silicone sealant.. You could also try other "mineral" products such as Kerosene, Turpentine, Methylated spirits, even WD40...

richb77 78 Posted June 2, 2015 Crepe as in "crepe sole" works wonders on silicone sealant. It has enough friction to pull it off clean without any mark on the base material. I know as I used to use it on silicone sealed antenna.
