I got a couple of sets cheap to use on random builds but they are printed funny. Half the logos are mirror images

Am I missing something here?

To many Japanese drivers, especially those in the drift scene, symmetry is considered very important, almost spiritual, with great significance for Feng Shui. I am vastly over-simplifying, but the basic idea is that a visually symmetrical car will handle more symmetrically and thus perform better.

But they would look stupid, very odd and people would keep asking why my lettering was all wrong.

I can understand OBRUT on the front of a classic BMW 2002 but I am still a bit miffed I cannot use half the stickers

You could perhaps put them on the inside of the shell before painting it... If a clear shell . Paint bleed may be an prob though.

Good plan but I have painted my shell. I guess I should learn to take more notice of the pictures before I buy stuff.

They might look odd on a buggy, but they would look right at home on a drifter. Anyone even vaguely into the drift scene would get it I'm sure. Time for a drift project perhaps? :)

Interesting idea, my last drift left me upside down in a field on the way back from Skeggy.

I might just do a high res scan and print my own to my own size :-)

It's just Japanese drift style. The design layout on one side of a car is mirrored on the other, irrespective of any writing.

It has nothing to do with feng shui, which is a Chinese philosophical concept.

Dorvack.

Thats so they can look at themselves in the mirror and its the right way round

Is about symmetry only. It will be easy for tamiya to print all the design in same direction and same color pattern. It shows it did it on purpose, not a mistake. Is a lot more work even done by computer. The disign will have to be flipped and new colors assigned to the flipped side. With todays QA/QC and Tamiya's experience, these decals are no mistake, else keep them as is, they could worth a lot like stamps. I don't think is a mistake.

It's also strange that they never mirrored the Tamiya at the right hand end of the sheet;

They might be for the front and rear rather than the sides
