Hi folks, my neighbours kid brought his RC car out today when he saw us playing with ours, apparently it's a sand scorcher

The front wheels kept coming off, something doesn't look right as they just seem to push in. Is there something missing...?

The axle shaft sticking out of the wheel bearing is supposed to be factory pressed-in to the front upright (steering arm / hub) and shouldn't come out , so a new arm ( or both arms ) is needed unfortunately , it's not unusual for this to happen (looks like the car's had an arguement with something and come off worst which hasn't helped)

Yeah, it's had a lot of abuse I think....!! All 4 wheels fell off at one time or another. Most annoying...!!!

I'll have a go at pressing them back in with my vice and some strong thread lock glue. If this doesn't work I will tell his mum what to get... Cheers Kev

Also, his stick controller is very stiff and the throttle doesn't return to the middle, resulting in it being very tricky to drive. Is it possible to clean these up, or lubricate or something....?

If it's very stiff it's probably jammed with something. Check from the outside to see if there's anything stuck in there. It may have been dropped or bashed, causing the bearing surfaces to be out of line - it might pop back into place with some gentle persuasion.

If it's not visibly jammed from outside your only option is to carefully open it up and clean it from the inside. Most budget stick controllers aren't designed to be user-serviceable but they're not really complicated inside.

Double-check that it's actually stiff - if it moves freely with a notchy feel, it might be a flight throttle stick rather than a sprung stuck. These are designed to stay exactly where you leave them. If that's the case then he might have to find the proper type of controller. If he's on 27 or 40MHz then maybe someone here has a spare they could post to you, I threw a dozen out earlier this year as they were getting in my way and not worth selling. Check what radio type it is.

Had the same issue with my SS...very annoying (and embarassing) I had to degrease the joint and use some high strength epoxy to keep the axle in there. I didn't see any grub screws so that is the only way I could conteplate keeping the wheel on =)

Yes first brush off the radio with a hard brush where the throttle stick moves and see if any debris where stuck in it... that don't work take it apart and clean it all up with a brush and add a little lube to the moving parts that you can see.

Your spring look at it, it may be stretched and you may need to cut it and form another loop at the end and re attach it to make it a bit stronger.
