Excellent! Can't wait for this. Now i need to explain to the missus why i want two! Do you think she'll believe me if i say one of them is for my little boy?

He's only 15 weeks old.....

Now my biggest problem will be not buying a single car between now and the release. Then I can buy 2 and have very little to explain. The key will be to stay busy with other projects.. perhaps even........SELL something. Between now and then.. problem is I look at my collection and as soon as I think "well I could always sell that and...." my next thought is well if I boughta lowering kit or that would look good with a bla bla bla shell or better yet well such and such TC member did that with one. Im gonna try that. Result, spend more money, number of cars remains the same....oops.

This, 1000% this.

I'm up to about 55 cars now (95% are stored away in the loft but with easy access) and every time I think 'man, I need to thin this collection out, I'll get rid ooooooooooooof, eeeeerm, errrrrrr, ****, cant get rid of any' lol. We're all hoarders just with a specific subject in mind ;)

Worst bit is, my RC collection is dwarfed by my console and arcade collection. I'm forever doomed. Thank god for a big loft and my own office ;)

Gotta say too, bar those front shocks, this looks like a perfect re-re. I'm 'guessing' that those shocks will be changed before production as it seems crazy to give any car other than a drifter such a restricted amount of shock travel.

My eldest said this morning 'Daddy, can I have one and you paint it to look like Herbie?' How can a dad say no to that?

The swiss company arwico (official import of Tamiya) announced yesterday that the Monster Beetle will be available at the end of septembre. Pre-orders can be placed from now. Have a lookm at this link:

I dont know if this link has been posted so I do it also

Hmm, £190 VAT included but before postage. That doesn't bode well. I'll be hoping for a good price from Stella or RC Mart on this one. I'm guessing/hoping we can get them for nearer £150 posted from HK. Here's to hoping!

I feel you on that one - i have quite a few retro consoles and computers, I'm running out of room so i think i might need to do something with the loft :)

Ha good luck and enjoy! My son loves going up into the loft as its basically like a museum of 80/90's entertainment ha haaaa. I live with the dream of owning an old farm one day where I convert a spare out building solely for the purpose of housing this collection.

A man can have a dream right?

I hope they release some body-off photos soon. Interested to see how things are laid out underneath. I'm guessing the ESC is mounted in the old receiver position, but where does that put the receiver? It kind of looks like the servo cover made it into the re-re, but that doesn't leave much room for a receiver underneath.

I'm trying to get my son to ask for one for Christmas. It's not going well so far.

It's highly likely to be cheaper to buy this one in the UK than from Asia. And the price won't be anything like £190.

T-USA's MSRP for the Monster Beetle is almost 3% cheaper than that of the Subaru Brat....and Fusion Hobbies' price for the Brat is £135.

So it's entirely possible that Fusion's price for the Monster Beetle will be £130. And with your TC subscriber discount that would take the price down to £117.

Stella's price for the Brat works out at approximately £135 delivered, so even without any TC discount it is no cheaper to buy from them than Fusion for that kit. I can't see it being any different for the Monster Beetle.

On the other hand, nobody does the same World Class packaging as Stella, so those wanting a guaranteed immaculate kit box might still want to go with them.

Good to see the Beetle coming back. As most of you guys, I wonder how this is going to look under the hood, especially with the problematic gearbox.

It will also help getting decals of good quality at reasonable prices.

The yellow dampers look like modern C.V.A. II dampers.

I think the mentioning of TS paint is a rather generic sentence. Even shells that came molded in another color than white have instructions on painting in their manuals.

Having a good look at a large photo, it looks like they've included "bump stops" for the front shocks. From memory, at full compression, the front tyres would snag the back of the fenders/guards (what ever you prefer). I guess they've attempted to correct that issue by creating another (halving the barely existing suspension travel).

I'm still having one :P

The front suspension in the photo is also about halfway compressed, so from where it sits, it should have some down-travel as well as up.

Argghhh, I was trying not to buy any more cars for a while.

The Monster Beetle was the first tamiya kit I ever built.

This is a must have for me

You took the words right out of my mouth! I was hoping for a bit of breathing space! I saved up to buy a Blackfoot back in the day it took me ages (well seemed like ages!) Then after school my dad took me to the town to buy my long awaited Blackfoot from beatties and they had one left but then the guy in the shop said "have you seen the new one that's just arrived in stock today its called the monster beetle we're putting it on the shelf tomorrow" he then went out the back and came out with this stunning box with that iconic picture! Sod the Blackfoot and the rest was history I ran that MB to death loved it!!

Trust me it was all the money I ever earned with my paper round even on a Sunday! And birthday money mind you the MB was more expensive can't remember how much more but my dad paid the extra I think he was impressed I'd saved for ages so I was lucky in that respect!,

I wonder if the steering servo will be mounted in the center now that the MSC servo will be gone.

Nah, like the Frog and Brat I'd imagine the ESC will be taped to the side of the servo

I sure hope they include a good servo saver as all I can remember from my Mudblaster days is the stock one twisting and popping off.

I remember when I had to distribute the electronics on my Monster Beetle project, the servo case material repelled the double-sided tape, so I had to place the electronic speed controller somewhere else.
