Hot on the heels of my last build, my Tundra High Lift "Modern day Bruiser" ( http://www.tamiyaclub.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=76822 ) I began a proper Bruiser build (well, a re-re).

Normally I will do as many hop-ups to my vehicles as possible, in an attempt to extract the best out of each vehicle. But hop-ups for the Bruiser are few and far between, so this post will showcase the ones I did to mine.

I used Tamiya's matte clear coat on the Bruiser just as I did with my "Modern Day Bruiser". I think it makes the blue much, much better.

CC Hand tail lenses. There was no way I would have been able to paint these in a satisfactory manner, so these were a clear choice.

Wiring is always a mess :(

And trying to find the best locations for the lighting units, with the TLU-02 still accessible for mode switching

The units

I still have some expandable wire loom to arrive which will really tidy things up, but this is ok for now

And that's it for now, thank you for viewing.

More pics/videos to come, especially with all the lights in their different modes.

Hi mate it looks as if its going to be a fantastic bruiser!,can I just give you a bit of friendly advice by the look of the photo's of your build you know what your doing but I put a sport tuned motor in my bruiser and bent the fork that changes the gears! With the normal 540 silver can you can change gear on the move but I think with the sport tuned its spins to fast! Maybe change at a slower speed! It would be very annoying after spending all your time building your cool bruiser!

Thank you moffman. I haven't officially run it yet, just some testing out so far. I'm not thrilled with the Axial esc, and was considering switching to the same Tekin esc/motor combo I have in my Tundra.

Very cool! That tundra looks excellent! I wonder if in years to come the tundra will have the same iconic status as the lovely hilux/bruiser?

I'd never heard of cchand but have seen a lot of similar looking stuff on ebay. The interior looks great. Judging by your builds I doubt you'd have any problems painting the lenses!

I do like the Tundra but the Bruiser still has better proportions imho, love it. I'm really looking forward to a comparative video/review.

Out of curiosity, what don't you like about the Axial esc? As you know I run the HPI version and am very happy with that but was considering Axial for the forthcoming Mountain rider build. Would like to know your thoughts.

The proline mashers are great alternatives.

Cheers

Nito

I can't really give a good review on it just yet since I haven't driven with it anywhere but my basement floor. It's a simple esc, which I like and easily changes from lipo to nimh with a switch of a jumper wire position. Same goes for the trail brake. 50% and 100%. On my basement floor at 50% it still locked up the wheels. There is no setting to turn the brake any lower or off. But this was on a tiled floor. I need to get it on a less slick surface to really judge.

Ok, so the issues are with the drag brakes which the HPI version doesn't have. The Axial is a rock crawling esc though, isn't that the idea that it locks the wheels as soon as you're in neutral. You could probably get used to slowing it down but keeping it rolling on impulse power (ok I know it's not quite the Enterprise but you know what I mean I'm sure lol ;) )

You are correct Nitomar. I have to give it a chance and see how it performs in outdoor surfaces and I'm sure I can get used to it.

Spent a good 5-6 hours tidying up the wiring. I think it came out well, and am happy with the result.
