58088 - a Mercedes C11 'Group C chassis' car? [:)]

A Speed 600 will not fit unless you do some serious cutting maybe. I woudl suggest for a car like the C11, to put in:

full ball bearings: (if you don't have these already) smoother drivetrain, better speed, better runtime etc. There's not many in the C11, so that shoudln't be too expensive. [;)]

(turnbuckle) steering tie rods: those 2mm spokes offer a lot of play, so I suggest you woudl replace these with proper 3mm one with ball-heads. The turnbuckles will allow for more precise adjustment. You could compelte the steering with a Hi-torque servo saver, also for removal of play for better control.

For a motor, I would suggest something like a 17-19 turn for it, or higher. Cars like the C11 don't need a lot of power to go fast, with a 13 turn it would only become uncontrolable. I would also use a ESC in your car.

I think these cars are very fast, compared ot a touring car. But they need a very clean, flat surface to run on. With the right tuning, big pinion gear, I think you should easily sqeeuze about 55 km/h out of it, but I'm not sure. At least it will 'feel' very fast, as it's a lot harder to control than a 4WD touring car travelling at the same speed! [;)]

Totally agree with Sjoerd, also no point in going lower than 19t on the motor as the pinion is limited, the overall gearing being too high really.

A low turn motor just overheats. I've had a TOP core 11x3 running in my grp.c but overall speed was really no faster than the reedy 19 quad spec.

These are extremely difficult cars to control at speed. Flat surface is mandatory, I've flipped mine by hitting a tiny stone.

Faster in a straight line than any modern Tamiya on a dry surface, slower than just about any modern Tamiya around a corner in the wet [;)]

c group is a lot of fun to drive, just don't expect to keep

the body in nice shape, next to flipping over, they have the

habbit of making a ramp out of all sorts of uneven bits in the

road.

with as result, a head-first landing..

but, what a blast to drive & donut [}:)]

I would say, try to contol it first with a stock 540 .. then go looking for some faster engines.

If getting low enough gearing for a multi wind is a problem then try a single.

If the group c cars are much like the F10X series F1 cars, I would have thought that a rebuildable 24deg stock would be plenty fast enough if you don't plan on racing it?
