Not owning a Frog, I haven't tried either, however going by the photos, the Traxxas one seems by far the better made of the two. The RC4WD machining and finish look very poor in comparison.

Thanks for the reply . I agree it looks a better job . I was more concerned with the Traxxas being the same dimensions as the RC4WD one as regards the correct bore hole and the with of the gear o/a and the width of the teeth. I've ordered an adjustable motor mount with the viewing panel and want to make sure this pinion will work with the Sport tuned motor and the 50t Frog gear, cheers

Imperial 32dp isn't an exact match of metric 0.8 module that the Frog demands, but should be close enough as most people agree here.

Some people on TC though reported in the past that their Traxxas 32dp pinions didn't mesh so well with some Tamiya cars.

My suggestions would be a Carson 0.8 module 18T steel pinion. I use Carson steel pinions in all my Tamiya vehicles, and the do a good job in meshing well and lasting long. Out of 10 pinions or so, there was only one occasion where I had to get slight flash residue out of the central bore using a drill.

Carson Modelsport #13408, available at e.g. Tamico: http://tamico.de/Motor-Ritzel-18-Zaehne-Modul-08-Stahl
