Orig. Grasshopper chassis ''off roader'' (?)

How many of you, original Grasshopper owners, have the words "off roader" right below the Tamiya logo that's on the chassis?

Is this common?

Not a GH, but checked my original Hornet, and that just says 'Tamiya'.

Mk1 Difference: A couple of minor things. The black chassis tub had Off Roader embossed in it instead of Tamiya, beneath the Tamiya logo near the nose. It also lacked a hole for a front body mount (something the Grasshopper itself did not need, but which Tamiya added when the Hornet was being released and used the same chassis).

Seeing the Hornet was released 5 months after the GH, there can't be too many MK1s around.

I vaguely remember a discussion about early hoppers from a couple of years back. From memory there are some other differences as well... like the center pin that the diff centralises on between the axles. There is a version with a plain pin, just like the ones the diff bevel gears sit on, and there is a version with a pin with reduced ends and smaller holes in the ends of the axles for it to sit between.

Indeed. The plain pin version came first, the reduced-ended pin version followed it, and is still seen in today's re-re 'Hoppers and Hornets.

Also there's some body differences on the off roader. 1 at the rear under the wing the early one had lines . 2 the side posts didn't have the very small lugs (also found on the back) . Plus black rod ends the steering servo lays flat and the heat resistor plate is black
