Anything is an improvement over the standard pogo sticks. You can get a away with only 4 instead of 8 especially if your going with big bores. I'm running 4 gmade shocks with a single shock mount kit and it's great :-)

I frankly don't know why anybody would want modified suspension set-ups for the Clod Buster or Superclod for that matter when more than half of the total weight of it belongs to its heavy axles and wheels.

It helps quite a lot, actually. But you can get away with 4, and very light shock oil and springs. I use take-offs from an Axial Wraith on one of mine, and it seems to work quite well.

Cheers for the info guys ill look into the axial shocks. What length am i looking for ,i already have 2 bigbore shocks so it may be easier to buy another 2 and use them ,i was thinking of using the springs that come with them as they are way too soft for any maxx truck and running either a 25wt or 27.5wt oil ,thoughts?

I would go with emaxx shocks. I cannot nominate axial shocks sorry, they are prone to leaking, and if you are going to jump a heavyweight clod, axial shocks will probably leak moreso, all my Axial shocks leak just sitting still lol.

Also traxxas "big bores" are just traxxas "Ultra" shocks with alloy bodies, caps, and titanium nitride shafts. Most people with factory fitted traxxas ultras get recommended to upgrade the caps, and maybe the shafts on their own if they just love jumping high (otherwise get recommended to upgrade to traxxas GT-R shocks, which won't fit a clod).

Would strongly recommend against wasting money on "big bores" and just getting ultras. I think you would be hard pressed to ruin a set of ultras. If you want to run 8 of them, you might need a lighter oil as suggested above.

8 Emaxx ultras from a chop shop on ebay would cost about $19-20, and they come with different pistons, spring tensioners etc etc.

I do like traxxas shocks alot infact traxxas rigs in general, 28 in my possession lol its a toss up weather to get another 2 bigbores and run a 4 shock setup or buy another set of e maxx brushless shocks as i have a set of alu caps sitting here too. I did see someones setup using 8 big bores but only run 4 springs

My current Clod project is gonna run dual G Made units at each corner with CPE 4 links and a sorta rere Sassy ultra lite chassis

I too am running G-mades (zeros) and only using four and it's a perfect setup for me. Really any decent alloy bodied shock will do and just need to play around with oil weight until you get the desired feel right :-)
