Hi everyone,

Looking for decent on/offroad tires for my Neo Scorcher....The stock tires were okay on the dirt, but after 2 runs on asphalt they are about shot...I was looking at the dirthawg 2.2" tires, but I think the diameter is too large for the stock (odd sized) wheels.

Any suggestions for tires that I can run on pavement (and not wear out in 15 minutes) but will also have at least decent traction on dirt?

Yea, The Duratrax 2.2'' 4WD buggy tires will fit the DF-03 wheels that come with the TT-02B MS.

They will not fit the Star dish wheels very well that come with the regular TT-02B as they are 2.15''

If you have the Star Dish wheels, I recommend that you get a set of DF-03 wheels instead as there are many more tires to choose from.

Thanks! Will any 2.2" wheels fit the Neo Scorcher? Unfortunately Tamiya parts are a rare commodity here and I really don't want to have to order online. Are the hexes the same size for all 2.2" wheels?

I use FTX Vantage 2.2s on my TT-02B, and they fit very nicely. Often cheaper and easier to find than the DF-03 items.

EDIT: one_hit's post below reminded me - the fronts go straight on but the rears benefit from thinner wheel nuts and/or hexes.

When I switched to aftermarket pre-mounted 2.2 buggy wheels and tires on my TT-02B, I had to change the wheel hexes from the original 6mm to 4mm. With the stock 6mm hexes, the nylon part of the locknuts were not reaching the wheel axle. At first I thought it would be fine, but then I found out the hard way :)

If you encounter the same problem, you have a couple of options. Change to 4mm wheel hexes like I did, switch to TRF serrated wheel nuts, or use blue threadlock on the stock nuts. Hope this helps!

No problem. I remember starting out with my first few cars, wondering what bits fitted which cars. Once you get your head around it, it's quite straight-forward. Plus, never be afraid to experiment; even if it goes wrong, you can usually use the parts somewhere else further down the line :D

Depends what you're planning on doing with your car - if you're bashing, the drift set are designed solely for drifting (so far as I'm aware) and from reading the description, are made from plastic (as I think drift tyres generally are). Other than sharpening your drifting skills, not sure what else they'd be good for.

Are you looking for your TT-02B MS in the other thread? If so, it looks like it already has a 2.2" wheel/tyre combo on it. The other set you've linked are smaller than 2.2" so would not increase your ground clearance.
