Not stupid at all, it's a valid question. In theory, any transmitter should be able to control any receiver in the same frequency, but it doesn't always work that way. I've found that in the cheaper units it's normally fine, but sometimes you will find that different handsets give out a slightly different range of signal, and the manufacturer's own receiver/transmitter combo would work best. The more expensive ones tend to be more fussy about the combination of receiver/crystals.

Generally it should be fine, and I run some Hitec receivers which are controlled by the Acoms handsets with no problems, but for my own models I tend to stick to Futaba as all but one of my handsets are Futaba, and I use Futaba servos. I do use the Futaba crystals in all of my sets too.

It's okay to plug a Futaba servo into an Acoms or other receiver too.

All you can do is give it a try, but the likelihood is it will be fine.

The problenm with these vintage handset is the neutral position which is different. This can be easily fixed with a screw driver (just rotate the pot near the trim).
