Eric959 51 Posted March 10, 2016 Where in the world did you find the alu pulleys? I have been searching for more than a year to get my hands on 2 of those for my TA04 TRF project! A bit of luck on Ebay I think!
t3garett 268 Posted March 10, 2016 Excellent update Eric things are really coming along ! I had no idea magnesium was available for rc cars, are the magnesium screws and wheel hubs made by tamiya ? Also sorry for asking but what are the 2 blue round cylindre things with trf written in white above the blue camber guage ?

Also sorry for asking but what are the 2 blue round cylindre things with trf written in white above the blue camber guage ? Thanks! The blue tools are a TRF damper holder and a motor holder: The magnesium stuff is made by Take Off, also a Japanese brand.
Eric959 51 Posted March 17, 2016 Made some progress with the 414M WCR. At first, it needed some batteries: These are the lightweight, lower center gravity lipo batteries. Perfect for this racing chassis. Installed: A servo: Very fast! Installed: I am almost there, just a few parts left: Tamiya!!: Still waiting for the magnesium wheel hubs, alu rear diff, 44mm lightweight shafts and then this chassis is ready to race!
t3garett 268 Posted March 17, 2016 Great stuff ! I see you put the lightweight diff at the rear . Do they hold up being plastic or do they wear out fast where the dogbones make contact ?
Eric959 51 Posted March 18, 2016 Thanks! Yes thats right, it will be used but in combination with an alu pulley. The outdrives are made from delrin and last quite long if you use them with the lightweight swing shafts.
Eric959 51 Posted March 30, 2016 Bought another 414: Also the titanium screws for the 414 Racer showed up a few weeks ago: Very nice quality caphead screws and hard to find: Upper one is titanium And installed: Some magnesium screws for the 414M WCR: Magnesium wheel hubs for the 414M WCR: Really super light! And the body for the 414 Racer: I already have the (correct) carbon pattern rear spoiler, but didn't have time to cut it out and install it yet...
Eric959 51 Posted April 1, 2016 Fitted the new spoiler: I am pleased.
Eric959 51 Posted April 8, 2016 The 414M WCR 'Light Weight Project' is finished! New alu ball diff. I used ceramic balls for this one: Because of the short wheelbase suspension arms and the 3 degrees rear alu uprights the normal 414M 42mm rear swingshafts were too short. I have now installed 44mm swingshafts: These ones are a bit thicker so it also means different handling compared to the 42mm ones. Fits pretty well: And the 'cherry on the cake' of this build: Looks amazing in real life. There is a minor downfall....my Team Orion R10 Pro suddenly stopped working so I need a replacement before I can actually drive this car!
Eric959 51 Posted April 8, 2016 And with the body I will use for racing: Again very pleased.
t3garett 268 Posted April 9, 2016 It s a shame you can t race with the blue setting wheels, they look awesome ! I ll really have to find some !
Eric959 51 Posted June 5, 2016 After being busy with some other stuff, finally had time to actual drive the 414M WCR. I went on a very nice indoor track which is pretty near my house! The Orion R10 Pro had a faulty internal bec, so I installed an external bec and everything works fine! I am only waiting on my Orion program box to set it up properly. About the 414M WCR, it handles beyond all my expectations, everything is so smooth and quiet.....it is truly in a different league. Some photos: Here you can see I have bought a ssg spurgear holder as well. Taped the batteries: The LRP external bec: Furthermore, I have found another set of 414 setup wheels, so I finally have two complete 414's. The third one is almost complete! Eric959 51 Posted June 15, 2016 Took the TRF414M WCR for a spin again: I guess it's time for rebuilding now..... The lower deck is still in perfect condition, the plastic cover is protecting well: I am very happy with the setup now, it is very nimble and has a lot of grip on the carpet track. Yesterday it was quicker than a X-ray T4 '16 so all the lightweight stuff is paying off I think. The magnesium screws are doing their job, they are pretty fragile and on a hard impact they will break which means all the alu and titanium stuff won't damage. I have already broken two magnesium screws which holds the front suspension block in place and those screws were the only damage. Next project will be a newly built TRF414M 'Custom Pack'. Starting soon....

t3garett 268 Posted June 18, 2016 Looking good ! What are those diff outdrives ??? Are they the aluminium ones that have been polished or are they an upgrade I don't know of or are they titanium as well ???? And even more importantly : what are those rear suspension arms  ???? I've never seen those before !
Byteme909 27 Posted June 19, 2016 The aluminum outdrives are unique to the 414/414X cars. Design was updated for 414M release and later 414M2 cars replaced aluminum with plastic for material. Suspension arms are optional tuning component that came with the 414 car. It is a softer material for low traction conditions.
t3garett 268 Posted June 19, 2016 Thanks for the info ! I m desperatly trying to become trf 414 savy without great results !
Plopes 138 Posted June 29, 2016 Your cars and attention to detail is superb. I'm really enjoying this topic. These chassis really should have their own thread.
Eric959 51 Posted July 13, 2016 Well, decided to make the 414 as my primary race car and sold the 414m lightweight car to a collector in the US. This 414m chassis was perfect but it missed the special status like the first edition 414 has. I have driven this 414 a few times now and I am getting used to it. It felt a lot different than the 414m and I still need to find the right setup. Setting up the 414 seems to be a bit harder than the 414m, although they have about the same adjustability. Some photos: At the indoor track: And now I can't see anymore which chassis I was driving...
