My HB Always runs with Carson All Terrain Wheels, looking nice for this kind of car but with poor performances.

I find difficult to choose in the large world of the 2wd buggies tires; I wish to know about the right size and how may I undesrtand if the rear of the rims has the standard Tamiya hexagon.

Where are you planning to run it? Reason I ask is I found the Carson set was a pretty good all rounder.

Sometimes off road and sometimes on road. I found the Carson too soft because they don't have the foam insert.

I want an advise such for off road tires than on road

So make your own foam inserts, the rims of the carson wheelset are britle but the tires are quite good.

the Carsons tires are 2.0", so use DT01 rims (0555080&0555081)

Alternative dual block tires F&R as on the Nissan Titan.

I've run my DT02 with Schumacher front tyres on the standard 2.2 wheels. On the rear I've gone as large as 96mm Ansmann Kongs which were great on soft sand.

And I've currently got Blitzer Beetle front tyres fitted to the rear standard 2.2 wheels.

Although I did grind slits into the Blitzer ribs for better grip, without them they perform like drift tyres... which was fun 😜

Didn't have any overheating issues with either of those but they've mostly been driven in loose gravel on a sandy beach.

The Blitzer tyres didn't need foams as they're quite tough but give good grip off road. Super Grippers as you'd find in a TL01B also worked very well off road. I'm not much of an on road driver, I'd say the best I've used there are the carsons. Maybe you could fit foams into them?

You just need a 12mm hex on the rears and that's pretty standard on 1.9 & 2.2 wheels. Front wheels need to be the bearing type, usually referred to as 2WD wheels.

If you're talking about what to search eBay for, fronts I'd use something like "2wd front wheels".

1.9 wheels generally come with 1/10 scale road cars so most of Tamiya touring cars or rally cars will use them. 2.2 wheels mostly come with the newer off road buggies. Both types of wheel would have 12mm hex hubs as standard on 4wd chassis's and rear hexes and bearings on the front for 2wd chassis's.

Also you can look for all the compatible 2wd chassis so DT02, DT03, Blitzer, Wild Willy2 etc that use the rear hex hub and beating fronts.

Just be careful because some bearing fronts need a longer stub axle.

I have a set of wheels and tyres from a stock DT-01 if you are looking for that type of thing

You can apparently get hex adapters for the fronts. I've got a set on the way to try for myself.

This opens up wheel options quite a bit. Unfortunately all my favorite tamiya wheels are 2". Though it may have been a standard size once upon a time, tire options today are quite limited. Egress spike tires/hotshot oval block tires are about the extent of your choices.
