Eh, we will have to deal with smaller-than-usual Willys being out on display with that thing!

I wonder if a dedicated driver figure will be made available for the Heavy Dump Truck...

So works out to be about 100 usd at the current exchange rate. The gf01 land cruiser is 12800 y at Raikusei Model and 12,400 at banzai and around 128usd at stellamodels.

That's not too bad imo B)

More pics on Tamiya USA, looks great though don't think tyres are quite right with spikes, cab looks to have black window stickers the tipper looks great.

From the 'gallery' view on Tamiyausa I would make the following assumptions -

Bed and tipper both styrene - look at the moulding / strengthening beneath the tipper itself, far too complex to be lexan. One would also think all moulded from the same yellow plastic, so no painting required for the XB models.

Bed secured at rear on two body posts as above, but also appears to be a further body post / fastener towards the front of the bed too. Perhaps, going by another picture showing the bed at a slight angle (not level) the bed can be raised slightly to allow access to the battery compartment?

I would not put it past Tamiya to fit washers between the square mounting 'lugs' of the body posts to allow rotation. That, combined with another 1 or 2 anchoring points at the front of the bed would make it secure enough but allow access to the battery tray without having to remove the whole thing...

Speculation is fun!

Cab & rear bed are listed as 'H' Parts so presume to be hardbody :)

This is definately on my Christmas list....hopefully with fit in the back of the Mammoth and then put my mini 4WD Mammoth in the back of this one.

Thanks for extra pics!

To be honest I don't really want it to be a smaller mammoth myself.. I quite like it's goofy, fat tyre, go fast wheelie, dirt flying off the tipper, bounce all over the place cartoony appearance. If it gives off a similar character to a lunchbox but 4wd I think they will be onto a winner :)

Odd that the one I saw today had black front tipper pins and the one in the picture has yellow ones...

I may be wrong, but from the pictures it appears that the front tipper pins attached to the front body piece are indeed black, but the model is supplied with a yellow strut moulding that is used to keep the bed in the tipped position. Thus when it is tipped, the yellow tops of the strut moulding are visible when looking at the bed from above, but when it is down, the black tops of the body-mounted front tipper pins are visible.

Dorvacks comment about the material is interesting. A PE body (like the Holiday Buggy) would make sense as it'll be more resistant to damage than a typical styrene hard body... but it'll also be a royal PITA to paint 😠

I just find that utterly bizarre. "Do not drive model with bed in raised position"

Kind of begs the question; what's the point in all that engineering? It's not immediately obvious whether the battery compartment is accessible upon releasing the front of the bed, certainly looks like access would be tight!

How's that, you could get stuck under a bridge or tunnel and what about aerodynamics. ;-)

Thanks for providing the links to the manuals.

Regarding hotlinks, it might be more widely accepted by server hosts to link to the whole website of the specific model and point out where the PDF is found, instead of just a deep link to the file.

This would make sure that Tamiya.de could serve us with manuals early on even in the future... See, they aren't that bad even though Tamiya.de and TamiyaUSA.com get the occasional hate for having incorrect model descriptions sometimes. (I wouldn't be surprised if Tamiya headquarters in Japan is giving their distributors a hard time figuring out many things by themselves).
