Hi guys,

Considering picking up a RTR Arrma truck, they seem to be relatively cheap. I'm wondering, how is the quality and support? I'm looking for a fairly quick truck, not a crawler but something that can take some abuse and not strip gears. I like the looks of the 'granite' and 'vortek'

Thanks!

Axial have a very good reputation. I've not got one myself but reviews of the the scx10 which is a scaler are all highly rated. If your after a quick truck though you might be better with an axial wraith or yeti. I will be getting some axial in the near future.

 Have you just changed the title of the thread to 'aarma' from 'axial'?

Don't know about aarma lol. Axial are really good though.

LOL...I'm sorry, you're not going crazy....I mistakenly put 'Axial' instead of 'Arrma' and thought I could correct it quickly!

Maybe I should start a new thread now...

Steelo I just had a look at aarma trucks and wow they look tough! If it's a basher vehicle you're after I don't think you'll be disappointed. Just watched a youtube of the aarma kraton and it looks immensely fast and tough. Like shenloco says bigsquid really rate them and they are all about bashers.

Hi dorvack I've really been looking into the axial brand recently and they aren't the cheapest but do make high end quality kits. I think I'd choose the models from each company based on what you would use them for. For example the scx10 is one of the best if not the best scaler type vehicles out there. So if you're doing some trail running I'd definately choose it over the tamiya tundra or jimny. On the other hand for a display/light runner I'd choose the tundra as it's such a good looking model. Jimny for some back yard fun. :)

Regarding the higher price of the Axial SCX10, I have no regrets with mine. I had a few heavily modded CC01's but once I built the SCX10 G6 it just eclipsed them straight out of the box. TBH if you factor in all the extra cost of upgrading a CC01 to SCX10 money, it still won't perform as well as my G6. It was so good I just didn't want to drive the other cars and sold them.

Steelo, I have an Arrma Fury brushed edition. I got it for like $190 which is a bargain IMHO.

I got it to use as a "loaner" rig for my sons buddies. I burned out the Mega15T motor in 2 battery packs. It's now running a Dirt Tuned motor and while not as fast it's apparently bullet proof. The only other issue I had with it was the front steering rod ball end connector would pop off with little more than a sideways glance. I replaced the ball connectors with Losi captured ends and that problem is now history.

Arrma is a subsidiary of Team Durango. As I understand it TD has left the professional racing team game to focus on it's consumer level cars (aka Arrma). I like the dual, vertical plate design of the chassis; the fact that the battery can be accessed from below without taking the body off; and that the remote control can be swapped over to left handed use with the press of a button. It really is a great loaner rig!

I have a Granite and a Fury. Waited and caught both on really good sales at Tower Hobbies last December. I really enjoy running both of them hard without much worry about expensive repairs.

I busted the steering servo in the Granite and had a new metal gear upgrade part - warranty replaced - from Arrma in very short order.

Then, My 9-year old snapped some suspension parts and they replaced those too. Great service. My experience has been very good.

No bad breaks on the Fury yet. The front bumper skid is cracked but holding on. It hit a broken sidewalk head-on at full speed. Jumped a good 3-4 foot in the air and landed hard. The launch caused the crack I think. :D I have my eye on a metal upgrade skid.

All-in-all, thumbs up.
