Hey guys, reading my posts must be hilarious, first i restore, then i upgrade the motor and ESC, now i come with lots of 'i have broken X, how can i fix it?' questions!!

So, have now managed to shear two teath of the counter gear in my Monster Beetle gearbox, i have a post in the wanted forum looking for a new one. Though what i want to know is, are any other counter gears suitable? Apart from Blackfoot, frog obviously. Any modern ones by the luck of god?? :)

i dont think there are any modern equivalents and the spares are hard to find, there are some on ebay at the moment in the USA i think

uprated motors and MB gearboxes dont go well together[V]

thats why i got a king blackfoot and slapped the mb body on it, bomb proof running gear[:)]

You don't have a picture of that combo do you? Is it a straight fit for the body shell?

I think i am going to turn my beetle runner into a display model and buy myself a new Tamiya for general mucking about with, i hear that the twin detonator with uprated motors goes like stink off road with 4WD!!

You'd have to do a bit of messing around to fit a MB body onto a KB, but it wouldn't take too long to do [;)]

This is the sort of problem that I was refering to when replying to your earlier posts.

A lot of Tamiyas can't handle a lot of power (cause they weren't designed to)

Sticking a modern hot motor into a collectors piece is an especially bad idea as there is a good chance that what breaks is going to be difficult to replace. You could even be pushing it with a torquey 27T stock if components are becoming brittle with age.

I got a MB a while ago and whilst I was only going to use it mainly as a display I remembered how my old one got through a lot of drive shafts in the time I had it.

I managed to get two King Blackfoots (one 100% complete, one 90% complete) and used the rear end off one of them to fit onto the MB keeping the original MB front end and still able to use the MB body.

The KB rear end is slightly wider than the MB so the back is about 1-2 inches wider in track than normal but it doesn't look overly bad and at least the drive train should be more durable than before, also the gears in the KB gearbox are a lot more sustantial than the MB so should be able to handle more power.

do blackfoot gears fit?

if so then http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXGP48&P=K

the diff looks VERY similar to the hotshot/wildone etc one

Tower also have the bevel gears (large) but for the 3 small gears you have to buy a whole 'metal parts bag' :)

yes! mb gears ARE blackfoot gears [:)]

i dont think the hotshot diff gears fit, if they do i'm sure that would have been said here before, as mb diffs are always being discussed here !!! [8D]

mmbib,

i bought from my LHS the diff i referred to above and it was listed for... umm - not sure anymore - i THINK the blackfoot - i have put it in my supershot without a problem

I also noticed (when i had a wild-one) that it's diff looks exactly the same too, and they were easily swapped without problems.

Hi,

Him French and i discover this forum today, i can help Galliano.

I got a Monster Beetle since 1992 but after many funny drive hours, the gear box was out of service.

In 2000 i decided to repared it, with some parts witch i had. A gear box of Grasshopper help me to do this. The rear of the MB look like a lunch box.

If you want i can post some picture of this transformation.

But you must know, that the gear box not enable a independant whisbone.[8)]

Bye [:D]

i would love to see a pic of the transformation! i've mounted a midnight pumpkin (same as lunchbox) gearbox onto my monster beetle runner, theres no independant suspenion at the back any more, but at least there are no crunching and slipping noises from it either [:D]
