My brother just gave me his old ta02 truck, it a toyota prerunner (s10/f150) and it is missing the body, wheels and tires and has a broken gear box. I have the hummer wheels and wanted to know if the datsun 240z rally body is the right wheel base for the ta02 i have.

The 240z Rally body comes on a DF-03ra & a TT-01 Type -E chassis, the wheel base for these are 251mm. The Toyota Prerunner chassis wheelbase is 255mm, So what's a couple of mm between friends :) (The widths are the same)

If you have access to TA01 arms you can get all kinds of wheelbases by reversing arms and running combinations of TA01 and TA02

Basically, if you have a standard TA02 set up with the prerunner wheelbase, then it's got TA01 rear arms (reversed) and you need to get standard TA02 rear arms to get the standard tourer wheelbase.

Good point Sayer........ the wheelbase might be close but the axle position in relation to body post position is different even between TA02 and TA02T.

No worries if you don't mind driling extra holes in the body and making it look like Swiss cheese. All good if the 240Z body doesn't have pre-drilled mount holes.

You may be able to make it work with different body posts. I managed to get a TT01 Lancer shell on my TA01 with no new holes by using TA03 rear body posts.

- Edit: Also my factory finished SX4 body (TT01) fits fine on my TA02 (prerunner wheelbase) with no new holes, though the rear body posts did need extending.

thanks for the replies, I did some more searching and what I found was the wheelbase would be off by 1mm. Its hard to tell because of conflicting info on width and wheel base of the prerunner ta02/ta01 and the 240Z rally body, I think I might order the body and try it.

The DF-03Ra and TT-01E can both be built with either 257mm or 251mm wheelbase. The Tamiya 240Z body has a 251mm wheelbase.

Precisely.. DF03 had a set of additional arms that pitched forward to make it 251

Here's how to get a 251mm wheelbase with a TA02 (those are TA01 rear arms)

Can't help but notice that they are TA01 or TA02T front arms and front knuckles as well on that one, so there is actually no TA02 suspension parts on that car. What is pictured should be exactly the same as the OP's S10 chassis. The TA02 front arms and knuckles are different and I'm pretty sure they slightly change the front axle location by a couple of mm.

I've been through this process too, fitting a 250mm Brat body to a TA02.

EDIT: Just noticed that Sayer did mention that his SX4 body was actually on a (Prerunner wheelbase) in his earlier post.

At the end of the day, I only wish to point out that TA02 cars and TA02T trucks - (F150 / Prerunner / Chevy S10) have completely different suspension parts and wheelbases.

I measured the wheelbase last night and it looks like 252mm or 253mm. I ordered the body, tires, sport tuned motor and parts I need to repair it last night. I'll post a picture when I get the body with it sitting on the chassis.

Finally received everything, body looks to be a perfect fit. I'm in the process of tear down and rebuild, I'll post pictures when the body is mounted.
