Forum Sign in issue..

I have found and issue with the forum sign in, that is becoming a real PITA..

The issue is that if you type a reply to a post on the forum, and if you don't happen to be logged in at the time..

Upon hitting the Post button, you are then hit with a message that you cant do that because you are not signed in, and are hit with a sign in screen.. Then after entering your username and password, you are then directed back to the main forum, and not to the reply you just typed, meaning that everything you just entered is LOST, requiring you to retype it all..

This is the ONLY forum that I've found that does this, 99% will either redirect you pack to the text that you just typed, or will continue with your initial request, and post your reply..

Can't you just make sure you're logged in before you type your reply?

If you hit 'back' when the login screen pops up your post is still in the reply box, just copy it at that point and paste it once you're logged in

(Works with Firefox at least, can't guarantee other browsers work the same way)

Or could we just FIX the forum (and the website for that matter) so it doesn't just randomly log us out all the time??

The forum seems a bit 'variable' depending on browsers - I'm on Win10/Firefox and it never logs me out

Unfortunately, due to the way the forum is tied in to the main site, making changes isn't all that easy.

I'm using Windows 10 / Internet Explorer if that matters..

I'm now starting to think that the forum has a compatibility issue with IE, as it on occasion it will take me back one page (just like when you hit the back arrow) if I happen to highlight some text, and press the backspace key to delete it..

There are a lot of issues with IP Board and IE - here I know of issues with pasting links, making pics appear etc, but it's not just on TC that the two don't work well.

There is a new version out, but as I said, it's not a simple matter to upgrade because of the way the forums are set up

Your best bet is give Firefox a try, even if it's only for TC

As Twinset says, if you hit back on your browser after getting the error / please log in screen you'll be taken back to the post you just typed. Now you can sign in using the drop-down box in the top right of the screen and post away, without having lost your text.
